Postby mrswdk on Sun Mar 27, 2016 9:00 am

The people of Free Ireland this weekend celebrate the centenary of their declaration that they preferred national sovereignty over federal diktats from Brussels London.

An excellent question that I'm sure mrswdk will answer without any sort of bias towards the Chinese Government whatsoever.

Surprised the locals were sober enough to walk in a straight line for a parade.

It was a stab in the back by violent nationalists as British and allied forces fought the First World War.

It's a shame that so many people either tacitly support Kaiser Wilhelm, or are wilfully ignorant of the German invasion plan behind it.

The kingdoms of Ireland were minding their own business when England rocked up to invade, colonize and brutally exploit them for 800 or so years until the Irish finally managed to lead a successful rebellion. Tibet had a fractious history of conflict with various Chinese dynasties, was eventually subsumed into the Yuan Dynasty, and has been treated just as equally as any other province for the past 800 years.

Now that we've put that nonsense to bed, we can get back to celebrating freedom on the island of Ireland! ^0^

But do the Irish admit that it was their own landowners who left them to starve during the potato famine and not the English. The English made the misguided move of sending over loads of grain. Unfortunately, unsurprisingly the Irish didnt know what to do with grain.

Yes, I'm sure that many people would agree that although the English government abandoned the Irish people to famine without aid, it did not create the blight which killed potato crops in Ireland.

As the people of India would no doubt attest, British rule usually means one thing for the supermarket shelves: abundance!

Ah yes, it's acceptable for island provinces to declare their independence as long as they're not declaring independence from China.

There is literally no parallel to be drawn between Ireland and Taiwan except for the word 'independence', but nice try. China's century of being invaded by the imperial powers, and subsequent freedom from the imperial powers, would be a better analogy.
