nagerous wrote:So has anyone completed this game? I've done the Companions and Civil War questlines now. Moving onto the College of Winterhold and Dark Brotherhood ones next. Only up to Alduin's Wall on the main questline but I see no rush to do it, mainly fooling around with lots of side quests and miscellaneous objectives.
PS Those skyrim 2012 videos are quality, look forward to part 3.

I've found out that I've "broken" at least one quest, killing someone before I was supposed to, but it looks like I can reset the quest somehow using the input command lines (pc).
I've semi-ruined a couple of quests, because I am always exploring and climbing mountains and getting into places other than the front door or front gate, etc. Pretty sure I've done a couple of tower quests backwards, killing from the top down to the bottom, and then back-up because of respawn.

Ha, if it's the same as previous Elder Scrolls games then you can use the console to do so much more than that.
You can use it to set your strength up to 1000 and be able to carry 5000 pounds of equipment, as well as being able to one-hit kill most enemies. Oh, wait, nevermind, Skyrim doesn't have attributes, that's right. Well, you can set your one-hand weapon skill crazy high, or add the best weapons and armor to your inventory, etc. Basically, you can cheat your way to godhood, if that's your thing.
It's crazy, back in Morrowind, you could cheat like crazy. Since intelligence affects Alchemy in that game, you can make a fortify intelligence potion, drink it, make another even stronger fortify intelligence potion, etc., until your intelligence is well over 1,000, at which point you can make restore health/fatigue potions that heal you something like 200 points per second for 700 seconds. Or you could make a crazy powerful potion of jump and proceed to jump half way across the island in one jump... awesome stuff. Ah, exploiting game mechanics is fun.

From what I've heard, that doesn't matter. Apparently, the hard copy of Skyrim simply installs Steam onto your computer which then downloads the actual game from Steam. So I guess they've fixed that problem of mods working with the steam version.
I could be wrong on this though. It's something I read on the Bethesda forums.

Did anyone here buy the DVD version of Skyrim for the PC? if so, did you have to go through Steam?

I bought the PC-DVD, but it does install Steam, so you can do updates through it, and it tracks your achievements, etc.

Really?
I figured it would be pretty hard to play a pirated version. Doesn't the game require Steam? And if so, wouldn't Steam check to see if the game you're playing is a pirated version?
If not, that's awesome. Props to the pirates.

Removing the requirement for Steam hasn't been a problem for several years now, or so I hear. There's also a group that releases the official patches as they are published so a pirated version can be kept as up-to-date as a legally bought one.
