Looking at the schedules it's going to take four or five weeks
just to get a feel for who's the real deal this year.

VA Tech may be one of the tougher defenses on Bama's schedule
as their offense didn't do a whole lot. Two kick returns for TDs
and a pick six provided the margin in their 35-10 win. VA Tech
--who is rebounding from last season's dismal 7-6 record-- actually
had more total offense than Alabama, so both these teams have
some tuning up to do.

Boise State, who in years past was known for scoring a lot, didn't do anything on offense against Washington. That 6 points was from a pick 6.

SDSU, who last year had Muema (1200 yards on the ground) and the year before had Hillman (1700 yards on the gorund) got clown stomped by an FCS team and really couldn't do a whole lot on offense.

SJSU (who faces a very tough Stanford) had some offense issues as well. They got the shutout and won 24-0, but their high completionist QB from last year (close to 80% last year if I remember right) had 50% completion rating and barely over 200 yards passing. If they don't figure out their issues, Stanford will steam roll them.

Nebraska forums are in meltdown mode after giving up all those yards to Wyoming (though in our defense, Dave Christensen has had offenses put 600+ yards in Lincoln twice before while at Mizzou), and are calling for Pellini's head. Though the real test for Nebraska will be against So. Miss and UCLA to REALLY gauge where they're at.

Arkansas Baby!
New era with Bielema
2 100+ yard rushers
a 200+ yard passer

I know it was against Lous Lafayette, but the future is bright!

The Razorbacks are due to get it together, even without Mallard (or whatever his name is) from a season ago. They were close last year, but no cigars.

Wyoming just might shock a few teams this year, then again after their good showing in Lincoln last weekend, no surprises may be left.

Western Kentucky beat Kentucky?
Oh the horror.

All I really know about this season is I still expect Georgia to bounce back after last week.

That opener could have gone either way and the Bulldogs may be disappointed
but they're still a team to be reckoned with in and out of the SEC.

DoomYoshi's Underdog Pick Game:

Pick one of the following underdogs to win straight-up; or pick no underdog. Each correct pick is 1 point, a correct pick of no underdog nets 20 points! There are ten games to pick from, the underdogs are underlined.

Tennessee Tech at Wisconsin
Southeastern Louisiana at Texas Christian
Florida at Miami
South Carolina State at Clemson
San Diego State at Ohio State
South Carolina at Georgia
Southern Mississippi at Nebraska
Notre Dame at Michigan

I'd hesistate on SJSU, personally anyways. Their QB had a 50% completion rate and 220yds passing against an FCS school. Considering last year he led FBS in completion rating, I don't know what to make of that.

Also, SDSU got blown out by a FCS school. 40-19.

Tennessee Tech at Wisconsin
Southeastern Louisiana at TCU
#12 Florida at Miami 21-16
South Carolina State at Clemson
San Diego State at Ohio State
#6South Carolina at #11Georgia 41-30
Southern Mississippi at Nebraska
#14Notre Dame at #17Michigan 41-30
Washington State at #25 Southern Cal 10-7
San Jose State at Stanford
my picks are bolded with a pair of upsets in red

Florida wasn't all that impressive in it's opener against Toledo, who cut them a lot of slack with drive killing offensive penalties. Gators needed to up their game to win in Miami and 5 turnovers isn't gonna do it.

South Carolina at Georgia is the toughest matchup this weekend and a hard one to call, but I'm going with the home team upset after a tough loss to Clemson in their opener in Death Valley. The Gamecocks also put a thumping on the Bulldogs last year which should add extra incentive to keep them from an 0-2 start. Of course, after saying that I have to acknowledge that SC is good on both sides of the ball and has won the last three meetings with Georgia, so Coach Spurrier just might have their number.
Georgia got off to a great start leading 17-3, but South Carolina
has come back to even it at 24 thirteen seconds before halftime.

The Irish were not that impressive in their home opener against Temple and I'm hoping the Wolverines roll right over them this week.

Well. Im usually the first Georgia fan to bemoan Murrays performance but have to give him credit today. He was great beginning to end.

Pokes take care of buisiness and beat the spread. Beat Idaho 42-10. Rolled up 550yds of offense and 1st string defense clubbed Idaho like a baby seal. 2 string was in the 4th quarter, when Idaho got their 10 garbage points. And trust me, it was painful the last few years watching our defense. Seeing team after team gash us on the ground and through the air. Even Idaho last year looked against us.

But stupid weather delays in middle of the 2nd quarter. Well, not the delay itself, but I wish the thunderstorm (a lot of lightning) had waited until halftime at least. Still, a good win, and one I'm happy about.

Georgia & Michigan both pull of upset wins 41-30 before BYU shocks Texas 40-21 and Washington State holds off Southern Cal 10-7.

Michigan only upset ND based on the rankings; even Vegas had the Wolverines as 3 point favorites in that game.

Watching an overrated lame duck Irish team
face off against Alabama last January still
pisses me off. What a joke that was.

So I'm just glad to see Michigan whup 'em early
after watching some of ND's opener vs Temple,
and seeing their pre-season rank.

This year there's Louisville currently at #8,
a good team, but we won't know how good
since they play no ranked teams.

Washington State defense shackling Southern Cal
was a stunner and BYU kicking Texas butt too.

Oklahoma hosting West Virginia was only tight
from an abundance of turnovers by both teams,
as the Sooners' run game was there.

Aaron Murray was nearly flawless yesterday,
completing 17 of 23 passes for 309 yards
and four touchdowns vs South Carolina. =D>

3 Points is basically calling it even and giving the Home Team the nod.

The awkward moment when Michigan State has more points on Defense than Offense... will be a tough season if this continues... Also the leading scorer is on defense who has three touchdowns this season LOL

Wow.

In somewhat related news, Wyoming plays Oregon and Michigan State next year.

And I thought we were done with murderer's row after the Texas, BSU (with Kellen Moore), TCU, BYU, and Utah in consecutive weeks a couple years ago.

Arkansas Update
Ark 31 Samford 21

Positives:
Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams ran hard and looked good
No picks from Allen
Resiliency
Playcalling down the stretch

Negatives:
Played down to opponent
Costly penalties and fumbles
Unconvincing win

At the end of the day a win is a win and I will take it (2-0)
