Every day, I read the international sections of a random scattering of newspapers, then any news about elections or air traffic control. I zone out for a bit and watch 2 tv shows (one about nerd culture, the other about combat sports). Then is targeted studying, based on the day of the week.

Monday: masonry study
Tuesday: employment specific
Wednesday: Philosophy/Western Canon
Thursday: Mathematics
Friday: Nobel prize winning stuff (either biographies about those that won, the original research and any extra research needed to understand it, or for the Lit or Peace Prizes, as much source as I can. But not the economics prize. I am willfully ignorant of their bullshit.)
Saturday: Constitutions of the World (mostly modern, but I study historical ones as well)
Sunday: the Bible

If I have time, I will check out some columnists, book reviews and essays.

I can only assume you enjoy the process of learning, rather than learning this stuff for some perceived benefit?

Wait my mistake, you are an academic right? (and intend to be one for life?).

It is all perceived benefit, except constitutions, that's just an interest thing.

I am learning to speak French for no good reason at all. In fact, most things I study in my free time are for no good reason. Take conquer club, for instance. Ladies, back me up on this?

i like astronomy. not like NASA type. more like i jave a 10" scope and an audabon society book that i like to locate thongs on the sky ( galaxies, star cluaters, nebula....etc.) the only drawback is my scope is relatively small and when i finally locate something its not too interesting to stare at.

also i like studying gold panning. and i like to odentify trees and wild edibles as well. carpentry too. and sailing. id like to sail to bermuda or hawaii one day. if i ever break down and buy a bpat that is. oh ueah. i like ww2 history as well. specifically the german retreat portion. id lime to know more about wwi but im too lazy and there are never any shows about ot. (does "legends of the fall" cout?)

I have also been considering studying for another degree in my spare time. That new concept of online studying seems awesome. Long live the internet:

Totally. You can now be a scholar and not be a complete loser with no life who rides a bike everywhere. I'm not being sarcastic, either.
