Who im i kidding,, maning dont kill afganistan children, so he deserve much higher sentence. Robert bales need to be free, he only protect US from all outside danger.

Bales is not free. He is charged with 17 counts of murder, along with other charges. His trial is upcoming and he's been in prison since March 16, 2012. In no way, shape or form has anyone said "Ok, you are free to go". The only thing for certain is that Bales won't get the death penalty. That's about the only thing that's been determined so far, punishment wise.

Bales just got sentenced to Life without parole. Hasan wants the death penalty to "be a martyr" he said, so I hope he ends up getting Life as well.

Ahh, I just saw that. Looks like Bales got what was coming to him I suppose. The only reason he wasn't executed was because he admitted to the crime.

And Hasan, yeah, he'll be going away for a long, long time. Hopefully the same as Bales at the very least.

and what impact did that have and where? (anyone)

What kind of effects are you looking for?

Millions of people will now be slightly more informed as to what goes on in conflict situations. How this might manifest itself in "the world" is impossible to know... I dont see why this is relevant though, government transparency can only be a good thing right?

I understand that and agree, but what does it mean? What will happen because millions more are slightly more informed? They will vote Democrat? Countries will more likely refuse to help the USA when we ask? Will enough people join me in opposition to invasions next time to make a difference for once?

I agree about transparency, in general. I don't agree that transparency is good, of say, our cavalry logistics and habits to the enemy we are fighting. That kind of transparency is bad

Hoo boy...I'm going to regret trying this...

Say, karel, can you name a single instance of an American being injured or killed as a result of Manning's leak? I can't imagine that what was revealed was much of a surprise to the people being occupied.

fighting a war for us?
I can understand US fight in WWII.
Ok, Korea war, US have support of many other countries.

And fight war in Vietnam-Iraq-Afghanistan. Its not war ,its just mess up ,try ,or overthrow Country Government, attempt to create puppet states, and after that ,killing to much civilians. Result are zero.

Afghanistan, Iraq,Libya, weak countries, with people unrest, and not good for visiting .

Only Vietnam manage to avoid this, because they Win against US, with huge casualty, but save Sovereignty , and its very friendly, and safe for tourism and visiting. Ofcourse US hate this country ,because its Communist state, where one party ruled( for US this its not democratic country).

Not at all. We get along just fine with Vietnam now. Vietnam and China are in a tiff about fishing rights and the US took the side of Vietnam. Of course, that's more about slowing China's hegemony rather than being friendly with Vietnam. There have been some well publicized meetings of former Vietnam vet groups meeting with former NVA soldiers. Kind of a healing and reconciliation type sort of stuff.
We engage with trade and relations with Vietnam and it's all very proper and civil.

Which brings to mind that the whole "Domino Theory" was BS. Back in the day we were told that if Vietnam fell to communism then the rest of Asia and the world would follow. That we had to make a stand. Well, Vietnam did indeed fall to Communism and it didn't make any difference at all in the larger scheme of things. All the horror stories were BS as has been proven over time.

But what the war did accomplish was to get the US into massive debt. So massive in fact that Nixon had to close the "Gold Window" and move the US dollar to a completely fiat currency. Which was the goal the whole time.

We never hated Vietnam, the war was just a means to an end. To remove ourselves from the constraints of a sound money system so that we could spend money with abandon to make and keep promises made by politicians and to be able to buy more votes back home. To further entrench a political class into every greater power with the backers of the bankers who live and breathe on the need for us to be in ever greater debt, forever.

The Domino "theory" : casus belli for Vietnam :: WMDs in Iraq : casus belli for US-Iraq War 2

I have always put a lot more stock into opium trade routes and domination of them concerning the reasoning for the involvement in the Vietnam war.

So not one specific instance, then? Huh. You shouldn't feel too bad honestly, the prosecution failed to bring up any specific instances in which Manning caused harm either.

The fact of the matter is that no action would have been taken through the proper channels. The government isn't interested in accountability, they're interested in keeping their image clean. Blowing the whistle on the lack of accountability might not have been the safest choice for Manning, but it was definitely his only real shot at seeing justice done.

As for telling things to our enemies, do you really think that the people in Afghanistan are unaware of what's going on in their own country? On the other side of the world we're not going to be aware of anything other than what the government and their media outlets deign to tell us, but you can't sweep the slaughter of civilians under the rug when its in their own backyard.

I'm pretty sure I already told you this, but I'm much more afraid of our government than I am of the boogeymen terrorists whose one successful attack on American soil was done with the aid of boxcutters.

Karel , you know what are real irony here.
US support Talibans when they fight against SSSR, provide all the funds. Withouth help of US, who knows what will be with Talibans.
So when you say fight against enemies,, you mean fight against former Allies.
