Putin personally wrote me this letter:

Opening ceremony. 7 days to go...

The Opening Ceremony is one of the most breathtaking and spectacular events of the Olympic Games. Sochi 2014 will follow the Olympic tradition of inspiring the world. The details of the Ceremony performances are kept secret, so you will be the first to see this once-in-a-lifetime event. At 20:14 on the 7th of February at the "Fisht" Stadium, Sochi 2014 welcomes the world and opens the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

The “Fisht” Stadium gates will open for the spectators at 17.00. Don't miss the Pre-show at 19.00 – this part of the ceremony will only be seen within the stadium and is not broadcast to the world!

Please Note: The walk from the entrance of Olympic Park to "Fisht" Stadium takes approximately 30 minutes.

Please be aware: strobe lights, loud music, pyrotechnic and smoke effects are used in the Ceremonies show.

Spectators from all over the world will arrive in Sochi to open the Winter Games in style. In order to avoid delays collecting tickets and getting to “Fisht” Stadium in plenty of time, we recommend everyone visit a Main Ticket Center or Ticket Box Office well in advance of February 7th to collect their tickets.

The “Fisht” Stadium spectator areas are not heated. Please do not forget to check the weather forecast and wear layers of warm clothes.

Yours faithfully,
Organizing committee "Sochi 2014"

I love watching the Olympics. Hockey is a big draw. I've been at bars during Leafs playoffs games... the place is going to explode.
Go to a GSP fight...the place is going to explode x2.
Go to a Gold-medal Canada game... the place is exploded.

I was thinking of boycotting the Winter Olympics this year because they still haven't made Bandy a game, but in the end, I'm a sucker for the skeleton.

Bandy is hockey but without physical contact and a ball instead of a puck, I've never seen the point with it and I can't be bothered with it, but if Curling is part of the olympics.......yeah, I wouldn't mind if bandy took curlings place. (If they're out of room that is)

Don't take curling's place!!!!

The point of Bandy is that all the amazing Canadian players who don't play Team Canada hockey can then go play Team Canada bandy.
Cuz we could send 2 teams over of just hockey players.

The three best Bandy teams are Russia, Sweden and Finland (they are basically the only countries that even have a team), so I don't think Canada would gain anything on that sport becoming part of the olympics. Seeing how it would benefit Sweden perhaps I should want it to become apart but I'm more thinking of what I will look at from the olympics. (Nordic skiing and Hockey, maybe some Alpine skiing of one of our guys do well.)

Could've would've should've, many basketball players could've probably become good high jumpers if they had focused on that when they were young, but I don't think Le Bron would break any high jumping records if he signed up for the next summer olympics. Similarly, many hockey players could've probably become great at bandy if they grew up playing it. But I don't think adding Jarome Iginla to the Canadian bandy team would help it's chances at all.

It's ON!

Monday's show on the Yoshi channel is B-list Canadian hockey players against A-list Scandanavian bandy players.

The game will be played in Sarajevo, at the Asim Ferhatović Hase Stadium.

You haven't said if it's hockey rules or bandy rules! Might influence who I'm placing my bets on.
On another note, Finland is not part of Scandinavia, the only connection they have to Scandinavia is being apart of Sweden for 600 years, that has lefts it's cultural, genetic and linguistic marks however and Sweden is arguably Finland's closest kin. (Perhaps they have more in common with Estonia in one way actually, they probably sit and talk shit about Sweden all the time lol. Estonia also having been under Sweden for 150 years.)

I love watching the winter olympics. That shouldn't stop me from making fun of them.

I love watching girls with big tits doing aerobics, but it won't stop me from making crude jokes.

I love watching the lumpenproletariat elect the latest "Time for Change" candidate, as if the previous 3 million, 925 thousand, six hundred and forty-four "Time for Change" candidates didn't teach them to look deeper. I still laugh. Well, sometimes I cry. But I still laugh through the tears.

What's the point of observing anything if you're not allowed to ridicule it?

No, it's the men's room; they can't flush wiping paper down the toilet. Western journalists reported toilet paper shortages all over Sochi, and a couple complained they had to fish through the buckets for the cleanest piece of used tp they could find.

They should be grateful DMX didn't pee out his butt in there.

I've never heard of any event so embarassingly organized. and it's the most expensive ever, 38 billion euros... more than all winter olympics budget cumulated ever; london was 12 billions and it was summer games...

I'm indifferent towards sports. I like a few winter Olympic events enough to watch on occasion. I'm on vacation so that's not now. I love the response Duk.

My first, slightly sexist, observation so far is that Mens are startlingly better at flipping and spinning than Woman are. I didn't think the difference would be so extreme but triple back flips and BS 1440's vs cab 360's... It really struck me as odd.

What the women are doing now is what won men's competitions in the 80s. Men are just generally more willing to push themselves past the status quo; in addition to the built-in physical advantages.
