If you actually practise aggressive promiscuity as a lifestyle, it's not that difficult. If, for instance, you are an active swinger and go to a swingers' club once a week, have sex with four partners of whom an average of one will be new and unique, that's fifty a year. If you've been doing it for fifty years, that's 2500 unique scores.
And in case you're wondering, no, I am not in that category, but I do know some people who are, and one guy I know who actively pursues such a lifestyle has a very credible claim to 3000 scores. Mind you, it takes really obsessive devotion to the cause to reach those kinds of numbers. They're not for any normal, sane person. But even the average person will probably rack up 100 partners in their life, I suspect.
IIRC, the last credible research I had seen said the average person racks up 7 partners in their life. We're not all you, Dukasaur.

No, they are mutually exclusive.

Better than sexy Risk, I suppose.

I don't remember that much about what the stats were, back when I was actively studying them, but I know that things were expressed in two or three digits. I just can't accept that "7" as being anything more than a misprint.

Not that I'm necessarily the norm, but I had sex with exactly one person in college.
Here's a source for the statistics in the United States. It says that for females aged 15-44, the median is 3.3 partners total, and 5.6 for males in the same age range. And that's including all forms of sexual contact.

No offense meant Saxi, but 80 year old ex-Stasi don't usually have hot bods.saxitoxin wrote:notyou2 wrote:saxitoxin wrote:Army of GOD wrote:I'll probably end up at 9 or 10 when I'm dead.

I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying AoG is living some Penthouse fantasy if he thinks 3 bombshell women are gonna f*ck his corpse. That only happens in the movies. Usually corpses get gangbanged by a bunch of homeless dudes the mortician has charged $10 each. That's why I always keep a razor blade taped under my tongue if I eat out at a nice restaurant. If I were to choke on a scallop and die, it means the pervy EMT is in for a nasty surprise when he goes to mouth-rape my hot bod.

Well, there is that.
Still, I know a lot of people who do, and I really find those numbers hard to believe. One problem is that they give the median number, but not the mean. When most people talk about average, they mean the mean. There are certainly circumstances where the median is more valid, but when these apply, the mean should also be given parenthetically, and the reasons for preferring the median should be stated.
Studies that have been cited in the Telegraph and on wikipedia give much higher numbers; unfortunately I can't get access to the original source material for them. Those other studies do usually give the mean, which I suspect is our main divergence of opinion here, rather than the nationality of origin.
I'll leave you one link to peruse: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promiscuity#Global_studies It's hardly definitive, but it's a starting point.
I do wonder how much the American experience is skewed by people who have been brainwashed by Falwell & Company. Still, most of the people I've met in the U.S. are just as horny as the rest of the world.
