Conquer Club

It took me a while to get settled in, but I finally am getting there. I liked Dragon Age, but I think Skyrim is going to put it to shame. I am really enjoying being a High Elf magic user right now.

The game plays much like Oblivion, but the graphics are way better. You can dual wield spells now, and when you level up, you go to your Skills menu and you have a bunch of Skills to choose from. Currently, I am choosing as much magic and alchemy as possible!

The character generation is by far better than that of Oblivion and looks a bit inspired by Dragon Age.

I finished my first dungeon! It was HUGE! It was FUN! Please, give me ANOTHER ONE!

The creators of Skyrim brag that there are over 300 hours of playing time possible in the game and over 150 dungeons to discover!

I am up in the air about The Forges that you can use in the villages. Maybe I am not use to it yet, but I hate having to collect ingredients and then find an alchemy lab. In Skyrim, Forges is just a common name for anything that will help your character make something of usefulness. What I found so far is that you have Weapon and Armor Forges, Leather Forges, Alchemy Forges, and Food Forges (where your character can cook up some good grub that will give you extra health or stamina...and other undiscovered effects).

I have yet to summon Zombies to fight for me, I have pretty much just been using destruction spells such as Flames and Sparks.

So far, I am giving Skyrim a very high rating and anyone that likes RPG and non-linear gameplay will absolutely enjoy Skyrim: Elder Scrolls V!

So they fixed the problem with certain animations slowing down to a crawl or even freezing completely (unless you were facing straight north in some instances) after having played for a few hundred hours then. Good to hear.

Is there a nudity mod yet? This long after the release it was already out for Oblivion when that was released.

THAT particular mod was out on the first day. To get it so fast they must have used meshes from somewhere else, and despite the content the speed at which that mod was pumped out is impressive.

Anyhow, Skyrim is awesome, I've nearly beaten the game with a 2 hander swinging Nord in heavy armor. The shouts and stuff are a ton of fun, I approve of most the changes from oblivion. quite a few quests and textures are bugged. If that bothers you I would suggest waiting a month or so to play.

10/10 stars from me, no other RPG comes close IMO.

(side note, melee characters, get a lifestealing weapon and Azura's Star. you can easily play the game on max difficulty then...)

I haven't played it but it looks awesome from seeing a few others playing it. My one issue so far. I've been told you can't tame any of the dragons so that you can ride around on their backs destroying everything. I don't know about regular animals.

I believe the Wood Elves have some type of animal control ability...I am not playing a Wood Elf at the moment, but a High Elf, which are good with magic. Wood Elves are good with animals and a bow.

i might get it in January or something, once i have a monitor that can handle nvidea 3d vision. i have the computer that can easily handle it, but a CRT monitor, quite fail, i know.

I'm a cheap bastard and hoping to hold off for the GOTY Edition to go on sale.


Wow....I just looked into it....it looks like GOTY Editions take a while to come out...Oblivion took about 18 months....so I am looking at some mods for Oblivion....has anyone tried The Lost Spires? I'm d/l'ing it now...

Hung out with my buddy while he was playing it. Pretty cool game, so I started morrowind. After I'm done with that in a about a year should be good for oblivion

I'm still playing Morrowind. With mods, the replayability is enormous. I'd like to play Skyrim, but there's no way in hell my laptop would run that game. I'm pretty sure it won't even run Oblivion. I'll have to wait until I can get another xbox, which means a while. Perhaps I'll wait for the GoTY version as well.

It has been a successful series with a pretty large following. I started with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and have since played The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. If you think you might be interested in playing, I'd suggest reading a few reviews and trying to figure out if it is something you might like. Be prepared to spend a few hours getting into it...it can start a little slow, but when the stories start to unfold, it can be addicting.

I've just started looking at the mods for Oblivion (other than mods released by the creator of the game, Bethesda, of which I've bought a few). There are a tonne and I've read a lot of good things about them. Some have a bunch of new quests which get good reviews.

I want to hold off on buying Skyrim until it comes out in a package with it's (future) add-ons bundled for a deal (GOTY Edition).

Yes, most definitely it will take you a few hours to get into it; but once you do, you can't really put the controller down. You want to keep going an going! Usually, I forget most (if not all) the side quests and just continue on with the main quest, but Skyrim is so vast and awesome that you will want to go on side quests as well! My best advice is to save your games often...because in Skyrim, you will probably accidentally run into characters or monsters that will just completely destroy your n00bile character with one blow! (Thusly, I ran into a mountain giant by accident, and decided to try to see if I could kill him with a bow and arrow and hide; but he saw me right away and ran so fast I had no time to evade him and he killed my character immediately with one swing from his spiked club!)

I've done a bunch of the side quests in Oblivion and Morrowind. In Oblivion, I'm the Fighter's Guild Master, the Master of the Mage's Guild (even though I can barely cast a spell), the Arena Champion, the Champion of Cyrodil, the Divine Crusader....I'm not sure what else. I didn't do the Thieve's Guild quests or the Dark Brotherhood quests because I didn't think it fit my character (not sure why I did the Mage's Guild quests really). I've done a tonne of the little side quests...maybe all of them. Oh, I'm the Shivering Isles Madgod or whatever....I didn't like Shivering Isles too much.

The first two games in the series are available free on the Elder Scrolls site. They're very dated, and the controls are all kinds of messy until you play around with the settings, but just thought I'd let you guys know.

I played Daggerfall back in the day. I put it onto my laptop recently, and it took a while to get back use to the clunky thing!

Yeah, to be honest, even after you play around with the settings, it's not exactly smooth, but Daggerfall is just a massive game- plenty to do if you get in to it.

I've been meaning to get a game like it for the PC, but haven't researched any new games enough...

Yeh its crazy how big the game is. I keep getting sidetracked every time I try to do a serious quest.

Whoa! Thanks! I downloaded them and the emulator but haven't played 'em yet

completed the main quest a few days ago.

the game is fantastic overall. i have four problems:

- the AI sucks and your companion gets in the way a lot
- GLITCHES. oh god the glitches
- the game lags and i can only get rid of it by switching my monitor to 800x600 resolution and playing window mode on the lowest settings
- i married aela the huntress but can't do anything sexy with her

my favorite skill is conjuration. that skill is ridiculously good. my preferred weapon in the game is the bound bow (even though i got 70 enchantment without even trying... enchantment is boring lol) and shredding people apart as a werewolf.
