Considering I happen to mis-spell "dear" in precisely the same way every time I type it, and given that I don't typically make spelling errors...

Dude, it's insane.
Announced TODAY, reached $680k / $1.1 mil already. WTF.

I do believe the throwing money/shut up and take my money memes apply here.

Obsidian makes some awesome games.
Also, there's going to be a South Park RPG?

It definitely fits in with "shut up and take my money"...by the same token, they're a pretty legit group, and so I determined it was worth throwing a small bit of cash their way myself (I would dearly love to be able to afford the $1000 to create an NPC, but such is life).

I believe it's a "was", but I could be mistaken. I'm not much of a South Park fan.

I hope they make their goal. This would be an awesome game to play. Just got into the BG series...love it. I need to play Icewind Dale. From what I've heard, Planescape:Torment doesn't play well with newer computers. I read somewhere that some dude spent about 4-5 hours trying to get it to work on Windows 7 and still hadn't succeeded. I've heard great things, though.

If I could afford it, I would throw some money their way.

You can find copies of all those games on http://www.gog.comthat run fine on windows 7. The company updates old games to run on new systems. Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, NeverWinter Nights, and a fair few others available for around $5.

Planescape Torment has been working fine for me (They ran a special offer on D&D games a while back and I picked up most of the old ones).

You need to go to gog.com forthwith and in great haste. They're bundling a bunch of the old BG-style games for those who don't have them (or many of them).

(EDIT: I should've read Symmetry's post first...)

Wow, that's a heck of a deal.

Do you guys know if they already have the games updated with the community made fixpacks? And if they don't, are you able to do that manually and still use mods? I'm mainly referring to BG with this, as I haven't played any of the others and have no idea if they have community-made fixpacks or any mods or anything else.

But I know that sometimes with these game sites, like Steam, for instance, it's hard to do some stuff that you should be able to do with a game that you buy, like messing around with the files, editing the .ini, adding mods/fixpacks, etc.

If you can still do this stuff, then I will have to seriously consider that deal. Nine games for about $30 is not bad at all.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would also be very interested in it. The other great thing is that if you own one or two of these games, you can simply uncheck them and still get the others in the bundle at that rate.

And seriously, if you consider yourself a gamer, you really should check out GOG's whole catalog...some pretty awesome games there.

Yeah, it's something I'd like to know before making any decisions. I don't know about the rest of them, but I know BG2 was horrible before I installed the fixpack. Buggy as all hell. With the fixpack, I haven't had a single problem as far as bugs go. The community did very well finding and correcting all of the bugs. I wouldn't want to play without it. Considering how old these games are, and the general state of most RPG's of this size and scope, there are bound to be plenty of bugs in the other games, and it would be nice to be able to fix those.

Maybe I can find the answer on the website.

Also, I still need to play BG1. I've played BG2 and the ToB expansion, but still haven't played BG1. Ha, I read where somebody compared that to watching Return of the Jedi without seeing any of the other Star Wars movies. You get the sense that something greater is at play, but you never really know, never experience the full story. Obviously I've been able to piece together bits of the story thanks to the amazing story-telling and characters in BG2 and ToB, (it's especially cool being able to have Serevok in your party in ToB), but it would be nice to experience the first installment as well.

I was never into RPG's back when it came out. I only became interested in RPG's with Morrowind back in high school. Since then though, I love them. Not to worry, I'll be playing it before too long.
