Just don't even pitch to the Cardinals when they're down to their final out in an elimination game.

Not true voldemort, they were amazing at the plate in the 9th. Laying off very good pitches, like they knew they were going to come back all the time. They made the adjustments very quickly after seeing Storen's great stuff, because he has very good stuff and it was working tonight, it was just that the Cardinals were just amazing.

True against Gio Gonzalez though, they couldn't really hit the ball good when he pitched strikes, the walks were the problem there.

No, voldemort is right. He's gotta throw strikes, he can't move the tying run to second with a walk. I mean it was great hitting, but he has to throw them over the plate...the Cardinals are too smart a team to chase balls.

It's hard for me to think that the Giants will beat them though. I got Cards/Tigers in the world series, because, seriously, f*ck the Yankees.

I wouldn't mind a rematch of the 2006 World Series........with the same outcome.

It just scares me to think of how good the Cards would be if they kept Pujols (who I still think made a terrible decision to leave) and still had Berkman, LaRussa, etc.

First you've got Molina, a clutch hitter who batted .320 this season, Storen know's he's waiting for the fastball to make the HR swing, he threw very good pitches IMO, it was just that Molina was great at recognizing the pitches. With the same kind of pitches he got Craig out, the 4th in the line up.

Then there was Freese. Remember last year? I bet Storen had that in mind, he too showed excelent patience. And next is Descalso, the worst hitter in all 2012 for the Cardinals.

I really think in this case it was all about the Cardinals good ABs.

Yeah, the walks in the 9th inning were about good at-bats and not wild pitching (see Gio for examples of wild pitching this series). He was trying to either paint the corners or get the hitters to chase and they simply didn't. The only possible beef was on Freese's check-swing, but those check-swings hadn't been called all night.

Craig did a better job than Pujols. Berkman is injured and I saw him take some turns in spite of that in the regular season, not sure if he's in the roster now.

(Imagine if they had the old versions of Wainwright and Carpenter).

Leyland fucked up.

Get the win and then give Give 10 hours of pep talk to Valverde.

OMG, was Cabrera just cursing at Leyland???

EDIT

Apparently it was at Leyland:

@GregSansone
I've never seen a player that angry about a manager leaving in a pitcher. #Cabrera

I've never liked hot-headed closers like Valverde or Papelsmear, etc. just because they seem very inconsistent. I'd much rather a Mariano, cool-headed reliever.

As a Phillies fan, is there any way that both the Cardinals and Giants can lose?

Giants about to force a 7th game.

Could it be? Can these Cardinals lose an elimination game? They have won the last 4 elimination games they've played.

This post season and the WS of the last one seem to have been scripted. Cardinals cannot continue without facing elimination game in every step lol.

Yes, it's a very likely scenario, since Verlander will pitch 2 WS games, all that's left if for the Tigers to win other 2 games.

If I was Leyland I'd send Verlander for the 1st and 4th, and possibly the 7th, the f*ck with susceptibilities, look what happened for wanting Valverde to close that game 1 vs Yankees. Unless Tigers are 3-0 ahead. Then I'd send the 4th pitcher in the rotation for the 4th game.

Apparently. It's very annoying. Although, the last time the NLCS had a Game 7 was in 2006 when Wainwright struck out Beltran on a nasty curveball to give the Cardinals the win over the Mets.

And who did they play in the WS? The Tigers. Indeed.

Except even as a Cards fan, I unfortunately think they're going down tonight...the SF bats are hot and the Cards are not.

It's like karma for Holliday's bullshit slide into second...

Wow. What a Meltdown. Bad play after bad play after bad play.

This time I don't see a comeback coming, they're full of fear inside, from the first pitch of the game. What happened?

They've been horrible in every facet of the game. And, when they put the ball in play, it finds the glove of a Giant. When the Giants hit, it seems to always find a hole.
