Performers in adult films risk their health and their very lives to do their work.

Should porn stars in Los Angeles be required to use condoms?

I say no.

I don't know about anybody else, but I personally hate it when I'm watching a porno and they're using condoms. It's akin to the dude looking at the camera. I'm pretending that I'm the dude, so he shouldn't look at the camera, as that dispels the fantasy. Same with a condom. I don't want to wear a condom, so why would I want to fantasize that I'm wearing one? You can always pull out or use the backdoor if you're that worried about getting her pregnant.

I guess for them it's more about controlling STD's? Well, screw them. They're in the porn business. If they get an STD, that's their fault. Their primary concern should be entertaining their customers, and I would wager that most people would rather not see condoms in porn.

Seems like measure B would just make people buy porn from other sources and only succeed at killing the industry in L.A.

I would guess all of them?

Unless there is a thriving black market in porn slavery, then I'm pretty sure that they all chose to be there doing what they do. Maybe some bad situations moved them along the path to porn stardom, but ultimately, it's their choice whether to do it or not.

There's gotta be some other job out there for them. I can't imagine getting to the point of desperation that your only choice is to start doing porn. Even being a stripper seems to be more acceptable. Probably better for your self-esteem too.

I would rather have to look in the mirror each day knowing that I take off my clothes for money than to know that I have sex with random people for money. May as well just start standing on a corner at that point...oh, but that's right, it's filmed, so it's not illegal. Haha.

Not all porn stars should be required to wear condoms. The porn industry differs on condom usage with the heterosexual group and the male homosexual group for reasons which the producers and suppliers have agreed upon in a voluntary manner which has resulted in an optimal outcome--without any need for direct government regulation.

If the well-intended (yet stupid) government and its voters pass laws (which they don't understand), then those within the markets will endure the additional and unnecessary costs.

Ok, but when would he/she be tested? Right before the filming? You know some diseases take time to incubate to the point of being found in a test but can still be transmitted to someone else right? There's no real "safe" way to do business in that industry. I guess you could live with the other stars 24/7 for an extended period of time to make sure they didn't have sex with anyone else for a month or so but good luck with that.
"But this applies to anyone you sleep with!" you may say? Yeah, but most likely the majority of people you sleep with aren't in the habit of having sex with strangers. Then again, maybe they are. Hell, I don't know, just food for thought.

I believe the industry standard is every week or two weeks a performer must be tested.

IIRC the industry standard in the US is about every 2 months.
