A New York Police Department officer's act of kindness has gone viral online thanks to a photo snapped by a passing tourist. Jennifer Foster of Florence, Ariz., was visiting Times Square with her husband on Nov. 14 when she spotted a shoeless man asking for change. "Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him," Foster wrote in a message to the NYPD. "The officer said, 'I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let's put them on and take care of you.'

December 2
A barefoot homeless man who became famous last week after a kind New York City police officer bought him a pair of boots is again going around shoeless.

December 4
The homeless man who was given a pair of boots by a kindhearted New York City police officer apparently isn't homeless. According to the New York Daily News, Jeffrey Hillman, 54, has an apartment in the Bronx that is paid for via a combination of rent vouchers, Social Security, and military veteran benefits.

He is already barefoot again too. He said he is hiding his boots, because he could get killed for them. More likely, he just has high tolerance when it comes to his feet and invented a better guilt trip hustle. Not sure if this is in your links or not, but they found another person who bought him shoes last month. And when he said he never owned a pair of shoes, turns out he was a basketball star (barefoot I guess) in high school are raised in a middle class household.

He suckered the cop. Lesson learned people. When you give things to people on the streets, you are enabling them to stay on the streets, and that actually hurts them even more.

@Scotty: How does being on the street hurt someone? Doesn't it just remind them that you are better than them?

in other words...(for the slower yet adjectively able among us)

Homelessness is not good.

Therefore, yes, it is bad. Living on the street, with no shelter or protection, most certainly can be "hurtful", possibly even extremely painful, on a daily basis, for years and years....W

Did you have a point Doomer?

I assume you are speaking to me.

Yes, my point is, you want to drug test welfare recipients, you say don't give to the poor as it enables them, yet you have a Salvation Army collection bucket on your profile. Who is the money for if not the poor BScotty?

One is voluntary. One is force. I know it sounds like I am speaking Manadarin right now, but they are not interchangeable.

You better hope he doesn't find you or he'll drive a 3-wheeled motorcycle to your house, slap you twice, then escape on an electric skateboard. When the skateboard runs out of power he'll then smash it in two, come back to your house, piss on the front lawn and then offer to build a Zeppelin hangar next door.

I thought so too, and yet I succeeded in adapting to the winds of change, and I have enjoyed it despite its failure to occupy its predetermined niche in my worldview. In fact, I may have enjoyed it even more because of its paradigm-stretching potentialities. I'm not saying I enjoyed it quite as much as, say, arguing politics with a retired paratrooper on a flight from Amsterdam to New York, but I certainly enjoyed it more than, for instance, a Methodist sermon. I think truly parabolic strides in our comprehension of the indomitable spirit of bad comics and shoeless baseball players are possible if we but spread our net over this thread and grok it fully.

Serbia's ambassador to Nato was chatting and joking with colleagues in a multi-story parking garage at Brussels Airport when he suddenly strolled to a barrier, climbed over and flung himself to his death.

"It was a suicide," said Ine Van Wymersch of the Brussels prosecutor's office. She said no further investigation was planned.

You know, a lot of accidents happen. People die all the time. Would be a shame for an accident to happen to a nice young guy like you. What with a family and everything. You know what we're sayin'?

SAN DIEGO (AP) — An autopsy report says a Border Patrol agent who shot and killed a mother of five after she hit him with her vehicle fired his gun 10 times from the hood of her car as he tried to get the woman to stop.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner says in a report released Thursday that 32-year-old Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin Alvarado suffered 14 gunshot wounds to her upper body.
