So who else is going at midnight?

Nobody. I read an interview with Jackson that said he is making it into 3 movies by expanding Gandalf's adventures. That's like making a movie of the Bible focused on the years between Jesus' 12th and 30th birthday. It doesn't make sense. He shouldn't call it the Hobbit, he should call it: Gandalf's Madcap Adventures in Middle Earth presented by Scope and Motorola.

Tolkins grandson, who I understand owns the rights currently, helped write and approve any and all expansions to the story line. The reason it is three movies is rumored to be because it gives a background for the goblin wars and other details that hobbit fans are more than likely to really enjoy.

I personally have no problem with this.

Yea, I'll probably still end up seeing it, I just really want someone to make that Bible movie to balance out reality again.

EDIT: and Tolkien's grandson can write the update Jesus story. He should especially focus on Jesus' role in the upcoming Goblin Wars.

Go to The Hobbit at midnight. I won't let an early final get in the way of me updating the Jesus story

Do you enjoy Sean Lennon's musical genius as well?

I thought they already had the in-between portion of Jesus' life in some apocryphal books.

That said, I think my favorite Bible story is the one where Jesus fights the pirates.

As for the Hobbit, I'm not going at midnight, but I'll likely go several times (with girlfriend, with non-girl friends, with family, etc.)

Julian Lennon has a tremendous voice.

Damn right!

Break the bowls and crack the plates!
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!

One of my biggest complaints about the LOTR movies is that they didn't use any of the songs from the books, other than that one brief snippet when Pippin sings for Denethor. I do hope they're going to rectify that with this movie, and that we'll have some of the great songs from the Hobbit.

Have you seen the trailer? It has dwarf singing.

We never even got "Where there's a Whip, there's a Way" :(
We might get the Leonard Nimoy song in this one, but I doubt it.

I agree that this was a huge oversight in RotK. They should have all their Oscars stripped.

Even some Zeppelin would have been acceptable.

Stockpile some bananas and set aside 12 hours. It's worth it.
