What is the grade level and readability of your writing?

I just came across this site which analyzes the grade level of your writing and then also rates it for a readability. It's quite interesting to copy different posts into there and see how they are rated. http://www.writingtester.com/tester/grade_level.php

Here's one example from a post of mine:

Ray Rider wrote:I agree with everything you said here. I was pretty surprised when it seemed like all the conservatives jumped on the Romney bandwagon even though he was the last-ditch nominee after every other candidate had been tried and failed. He carried with him a lot of baggage and was a big-government politician same as Obama, and yet many conservatives didn't seem to blink an eye when jumping to support him (we all witnessed the transformation of PS before our very eyes). I personally think a huge opportunity was missed here; when faced with two disappointing presidential candidates, if those dissatisfied with the status quo (especially conservatives, libertarians, and small government advocates as a whole) had thrown their support behind a 3rd party candidate, that could've had a game-changing effect on the next election down the road. Instead, two billions dollars and months of campaigning went down the drain with absolutely no change on the horizon. This election (and the opportunity for change in the next election) was completely wasted. How long must this continue?

Post an example of yours and the rating! The best example of highest grade level (at least 12) combined with highest readability score will be copied into this opening post!

What do you do if you see a man with no skin running around your front yard? The smallpox isn't working fast enough. Hit him with a dose of hemorrhagic fever.

Readable Score: 69

Do I win?

Yup. Sorry everyone, competition's closed. jk

Ray Rider wrote:I would agree, although even in terms of economics there seem to be a lot who are propounding a philosophy of spreading the wealth around, raising taxes much higher--specifically on the rich, greater governmental regulations, more Keynesian economics, more protectionist policies (to attempt to stop jobs from leaving the continent), etc. which I would tend to see as strong "left-wing" policies. I guess you don't see many out in the open advocating communism and state takeovers of business, but instead there are those who were clearly in favor of state takeovers in the form of bailouts to the auto industry and greater governmental oversight in areas like that. I think the reason you don't see more people on the extreme left economically on the site is because we have some pretty strong capitalistic posters who tend to dominate those discussions

Edit: Interesting, punctuation seems to make a big difference. I put a period on the end of that last quote and then got a score of:

Part of the problem is that evolutionary science can't even determine the definition of it's own words and confuse mutation with Darwinian evolution. Hell, evolutionary science has yet to determine what the word "Species" means? Even among themselves they can't get the meaning right on the words that they use and they call that evidence?

Obviously you can put simple garbage into there and get a high readability level; however the point is to try to maintain a decent grade level as well. That's why I made the stipulation of having at least a grade 12 level in order to compete.

Today I was walking through Hendon. With Ronnie and Barny Boatman.
We were walking 3 abreast, therefore blocking the whole pavement.
A big bloke was walking towards us, he was wearing a blue business suit, pork pie hat, cravat and shiny alligator shoes.
I recognised him as Stan the Snide, he was an old time coppers nark from Wembley way.
I whispered to Ron I wanted him sorting, Ron tipped me the wink and stood nose to nose with Stan.
"Oi, you nonce, Joe told me you`re a snide, slag, grass and nark"
"What abaht it?" Stan said
"I don`t like geezers like you pal" Ron said, "I`m sorting you right here"
Stan laughed, but froze when Ron pulled his cosh from his suit pocket.
Ron coshed him 3 times, we left Stan on the pavement. And continued into the heart of Hendon for a home game with Ross and Ram

So I've been playing with this program. It is very hard to get a high readability and not have a low "grade" (for non- US people, that's the year you are in at school. 12th grade is usually 17/18).
I started with "I'm sure you are right" which was readable but uneducated and ended with "You are indubitably correct" which got a minus score for readability, and I think a grade 15. I think it just counts syllables.I'm going to put this post through the meat grinder now. Anybody want to make a guess?

Clue: the criterion appears to be average word length. A short passage with the word "indubitably" is unreadable but at a high grade.. Add a few nice short words and you're readable but at grade 6.

Utter shite.
