Did you know?

That the American federal government prefers Israel to Thomas Jefferson?

It's true:

The Ralph J. Bunche Library of the U.S. Department of State is the oldest Federal Government library. It was founded by the first Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson in 1789. It was dedicated to and renamed the Ralph J. Bunche Library on May 5, 1997

Ralph Bunche, of course, is famous for being a Zion lobby-slave and political puppet who patted the Western forces on the back after WW2. 20 years after he gave the Israelis more than they deserved, they got greedy and took the West Bank and Gaza anyways. Only now does the UN recognize Palestine as a legitimate state. The Ralph Bunche park should be renamed the Arafat park.

Just thought I would bring this debate to the forefront again before I off to bed.

Prompting or provoking others (Baiting) to do that is just as bad.

So don't express irritation when Zionist figures are promoted higher than classical liberal figures such as Jefferson? Okay.

That's not the issue and you know it. Nothing wrong with being irritated about someone renaming your favourite library. The hate speech is in the clauses
he gave the Israelis more than they deserved, they got greedy and took the West Bank and Gaza anyways
. These were not integral to his message anyway; they were added gratuitously to create a negative emotional response in others.

Well, after some further investigation, it wasnt the Zion lobby after all. It was the Black lobby. So racism prevails again.

My anti-Zionist credentials are beyond dispute. However, love him or not, Ralph Bunche really was a pretty incredible person.

Also, Thomas Jefferson has a lot of things named after him including no less than 13 different mountains (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Jefferson), apparently. How many mountains does Jefferson need?

So you agree I was trolling. Fair enough.

The point is that Jefferson didn't build and dedicate those mountains to the American people like he did with the library.

Incredible: anti-nationalist? Not really. Promoted geopolitical education for the common man... Ok that gets some incredible points. Won a nobel prize for a price treaty that would have happened anyways? Sure will give a few points. Marched with MLKJ? Ok, semi-incredible at this point... Am I missing anything?

For the record: I'm not a discussions mod, and my making the point does not constitute an official "citation" of any kind. Apologies if anyone was misled.

I don't think you're trolling.

IIRC, Bunche was the head of the committee that wrote "A More Responsible Two-Party System" (http://www.apsanet.org/~pop/APSA1950/APSA1950_Part3.pdf) which reorganized the two officially-sanctioned political parties (Democrats / Republicans) from being geographically oriented but ideologically diverse to ideologically oriented but geographically diverse.

Whether or not one agrees with the outcome of that decision, it's a pretty incredible achievement.

1. The Israelis do not deserve this honor (implied: Thomas Jefferson deserves it more.)

That's not hate speech.

2. The Israelis got greedy and took the WB and Gaza anyway.

Their intent is unknown (but we all make claims about people's intents--just like you're doing now, but we also do this will Big Wall Street Fat Cats and Politicians), so either be consistent and argue that we should all be banned for 'hate' speech, or drop your groundless charges.

Finally, the Israelis taking Gaza and WB is relevant because aggressive nations which seek to expand their control over land that isn't theirs do not deserve honorable mentions--according to OP. There's nothing wrong with that claim--in the sense that it cannot be called 'hate speech'.

How can we revoke the honor to a classical liberal like Thomas Jefferson and reward an aggressive nation with it? OP says, No, and mentions a few reasons (Israelis being greedy and taking the WB and Gaza). Somehow, that's hate speech?

No, it isn't, nor is it trolling.
