Tailgunner has no respect for baseball.

Seriously. What a tedious, snore-fest of a sport. All deviations are likewise viewed (cricket, stickball, etc).*

*Except Calvinball, cuz that's just awesome.

Cricket is emphatically not a deviation from Baseball, not only is it a far superior game IMHO but it predates it by a long way.Btw wtf is Stickball?

Variants or cousins, if you will. Whatever, bat-and-ball games.

Stickball is baseball adapted to street play. You use whatever is at hand, like a broomstick and a tennis ball.

I don't think I've ever watched a whole baseball game. And I am not sure I ever will either.

I would not call Calvinball a derivation or relation to baseball, except that occasionally a game of baseball will devolve into Calvinball and that Calvinball may use some of the instruments used in baseball.

I love baseball. Love it. Can't get enough of it.

what the f*ck is Calvinball?

Also, I can see why people might not like baseball. I've personally played baseball since I was 5 so it's sort of ingrained in my heart. My roommate put it best: "It's a game for the bros, by the bros."

This commercial is an accurate description of being on the field:

I went to one MLB game in my life, Expos, and watched about 2 innings and then went to the bar and got hammered. Missed the rest of the game.

My friend has them. I didn't understand why until I saw how big a hit they are on the internets.

you have it backwards. baseball evolves into calvinball and calvinball devolves into baseball.

btw, i knew tailgunner was kinda full of himself, but since when does he refer to himself in the third person?

People who don't like baseball are gay.

Gays that don't like baseball are losers.

There's too much in a game of baseball people don't realize. Just too much. I never stop learning, every bit matters, every pitch has it's reason, and only those who've played it (and much more those who played it for many years in an organized way) or have been watching it for years understand why is so beautiful.

But I understand how a guy can say that's boring, they don't know what's going on in every move.

Boring: Hockey, basketball, golf and all the other sports I don't like.

I was under the impression that the sum of baseball was just some dudes hitting a ball with a stick and then running around, grabbing their crotch and chewing some bubble gum. Doesn't seem to complex.

The best way to fall asleep is to watch baseball. Throw away your sleep medication. Baseball is the solution to your problems.

Really, this might be true. When I was a kid, instead of counting sheep I would imagine a baseball player hitting a homerun, and the announcer saying "It's going and going and going" while picturing a baseball upclose in the air, ad infinitum until I droned myself to sleep from boredom.

They were a hit before the internet. Actually pretty much the last pre-internet comic strip worth reading.

Tail, did you start this thread because of the "Combining Thread Titles" game? Or is it just coincidence that Quirk posted this title and then you made it a few hours later?

Didn't do the bar part but was at a World Series Astro's game, and I must say the best thing about it was the Fireworks afterwards. That and explaining the rules to some British people. :ugeek: Im sure its much more exciting to play, but watching, no thanks gimme the World Cup instead. 8-)

I usually picture a pitcher. He's sizing up the batter... looks to his left... looks to his right.... looks behind him... scratches his ass... then the batter backs off and takes a few swings at the air. Then he comes back to the plate.... now the pitcher is sizing up the batter... looks to his left... looks to his right.... looks behind him... throws to first... first base man throws it back... pitcher throws it to first... first base man throws it back....first base man throws it back... pitcher throws it to first... first base man throws it back....first base man throws it back... pitcher throws it to first... first base man throws it back....
