NOTE: If you didn't play the sport, then your opinion is equal in value to Andy's used bananas.

I smell a poll...

Being gay is rarely boring.

HAH! This is a trap! Since I am pretty sure BBS thinks all sports are boring.

I play, or have played a huge number of sports; none of which are boring if they are adequately competitive. Even cricket is exciting when the pressure is on (such as facing a fast bowler).

Some people would take one look at a sport like rowing and go wtf, you go backwards down a perfectly straight course. That is off the chain boring. But I assure you when you are in that boat balls deep in oxygen debt hanging on for dear life as the boat next to you makes a move its pretty exciting.

What makes competing in a sport boring is not the sport itself, but the competition level. It could be lawn bowls or mixed martial arts; but if there is competition it will be exciting, if it is no competition it will be boring.

It's a trap because BBS is going to try to prove playing sports is not boring, while watching is.

In any event, I find billiards extremely boring... also swimming and running. Other than that, I got nothing else. I've not found any other sport I've played boring. Let me make a list (most exciting to least exciting)

- Rugby
- Basketball
- Football (American)
- Street hockey
- Soccer (so much running...)
- Baseball
- Softball
- Golf
- Discus throw (this high only because our discus practice field was right next to the women's soccer practice field)
- Bowling
- Billiards
- Swimming
- Running

Here's mine. I'm including non-official sports like dodgeball and capture the flag because I find them very exciting:
-Ice Hockey
-Rugby
-Capture the Flag
-American Football
-Dodgeball
-Team Handball
-Basketball
-Baseball
-Golf
-Soccer
-Tennis
-Swimming
-Pooping
------------------------------------------------------------ (line at which they're no longer fun)
-Bowling
-Billiards
-Running

Also I included some non-sports (swimming, running, billiards, golf). Also, some of the order is dependent on my skill level. Like, if I was better at golf (which I assume will just come with more practice/experience), it'll be higher. The problem with some (handball, CTF) is that no one ever plays them outside of specific events.

Honestly, I think it is Horseshoes, by and far.

Croquet is definitely boring. Not even pink flamingos can improve croquet.

Bocce is kind of boring, but in its own way, there is a laid back excitement to the game.

Basketball (this must be for gays, all that sweaty contact),
Football (some, not organized and I liked to tackle and run with the ball but not being tackled),
Billiards (seriously? after the 3rd drink I don't care anymore all it want is for it to end so I can monopolize the jukebox)
Softball (gay)
Street hockey (I'd rather skate alone)
Bowling (for starters I don't like wearing used shoes, then the sits are uncomfortable and the drinks are expensive, and I like a softer light while I'm drinking)

More to be remembered later.

I have tried to watch rugby and have found it incredibly boring (much like I find soccer boring).

It's a trap because BBS seems to suggest my used bananas may have little or no value.

Also, I like how nietzsche seems to operate under the definition of "anything that is different or not particularly of my interest is gay"

Your used bananas generally turn to shit in the great scheme of things... so technically he's correct. They're only useful to bacteria and the waste management industry.

That looks like a great value. A whole demographic of eco-friendly (i.e. susceptible to eco-marketing scheme) people see value!

Are there any sports involving bananas?

I don't know about sports, but apparently they make great April Fool's day pranks.

I played rugby for four years, so I like to think I understood (a certain Brazilian scrum half would disagree with me... "FUCKING FORWARDS!"), but let's say it was 25% not understanding and 75% poor camera work.

You say that now but wait until you have Shaq O'Neal's big fat sweaty arms wrapped around you while trying to pass the ball. Think about that andy, think about that.

Rugby is getting more and more boring to watch. The reason is the rules keep getting more refined and it interrupts the continuity of the game (penalties every minute, scrums getting reset 10 times etc etc).

As far as camera work goes what level of rugby were you watching? Most international stuff is of a pretty high standard, but lower grade stuff when they dont have a very high pov set up it makes it very hard to watch.

The last rugby I watched was in 2005/2006. I felt like the camera tries to take in the entirety of the field rather than focusing on the ball or what's going on around the ball. Generally, in the American sports I watch (football, basektball, baseball) the camera follows the ball fairly closely. In football and basketball the camera angles are such that I can see most of the field and the action around the ball.

Yeah it does tend to zoom out a bit more often in rugby as a lot more long range kicking happens (compared to American Football), and othen things like backline moves use the whole width of the field so you need a zoomed out view to see all the action. However in any decent coverage they zoom in very quickly to rucks/mauls/other exciting phases of play.

Interestingly when watching American Football I found it quite difficult to instinctively gauge where the play is in relation to each end - sure I can look at the paint on the pitch, but instinctively I found it hard to get a feel for it as all the paint looks the same and, as you say, you dont zoom out all that often.
