I hate Works Cited. Worse part of doing essays.

Bibme helps, but whe you can't find a website that actually works for it, makes it kind of useless. Books are alright, but when you HAVE to have at least 1 website, it can make things, well, difficult.

No , wiki does not count. No college professor ever excepts wiki as a reliable source. If they do, you may want to rethink about the school you are attending.

Considering I mostly use EBSCOhost for research stuff, it ain't that bad. They just have a "citation" button that gives you citations in whatever format you need.

There's also a CiteMe.com or something like that, which automatically does the proper format for you.

Doing the Citing is not the problem. It's finding the online articles that work for the auto cite websites that poses a problem. Right now, can't find anything on the Aztecs that works for those sites.

And the problem with EBSCO, is that it requires payment to use something other than a free trial.

Weird. It's free for me through my school account.

Most of the essays I wrote had a pretty straight forward works cited page, and I was able to use in text citation. For the few essays I had to write with footnote citation, I didn't like it.

The varied methods of citation are what annoy me. The whole system would be best off finding a uniform and simple method of citing. The variations of style are just that -- style.

But pretty much everything on Wikipedia is cited, can't you just use the appropriate site from which they cited it from?

The problem that professors have with wiki, is that ANYONE can edit it. Now, some of the sources used for the wiki articles can be acceptable, but no wiki itself.

BTW, finished my freakin' essay. Now, just one test left and done with classes for the summer.

As I say that, it is currently a winter storm warning with snow coming down pretty hard right now.

Some systems are better based on a mix of topic and personal style. I mostly deal in literature and history. Endnotes annoy me, but so do people who use excessively long footnotes.

That's part of it, and a big part, but included in it is that it's not a stable source, so it can't be reliably checked. In addition to that, there's the element of professionalism. You should be being trained to use a library, and other professional resources.

Another of the reasons I'm happy to be a scientist is that you sort of just have your list of papers you used and then make a list. It's a natural progression, not something inconvenient. Kinda nice.
