Well...they're certainly not wrong that the United States has some pretty serious human rights issues that need to be resolved. That being said...I'm afraid it becomes difficult for me to give a shit what China, of all countries, thinks about them.

Can we see some examples of "flagrant human rights violations"?

Did we starve to death 60 million or something?

That need to be resolved? As in what, we're still currently committing "pretty serious human rights" violations? What exactly are we talking about here?

Bollocks.

WOW! Let me guess: Not handing out unlimited food stamps and free housing to lazy bums is a "flagrant human rights violation"? More seriously, I will predict that it's a human rights violation for any citizen to not be taken care of cradle to the grave by Socialism and redistribution of the wealth. I agree though, China is in no position to make these claims. China is trolling, and so is the thread.

I'm pretty sure these guys will conclude Freedom itself is a flagrant human rights violation

Sure, here are three pretty current ones just off the top of my head:

1. The continued existence of the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba detention camp.

2. The use of torture in interrogation of military prisoners.

3. Bradley Manning is FINALLY going to trial, but not until after being held without charges and in conditions that certainly would qualify as cruel and unusual for a tremendous length of time. There's no question in my mind that he's finally going to trial only through the outcry about how he has been held.

Do you guys actually not consider these to be flagrant human rights violations or were you just hoping I wouldn't think of them?

Depends how far back you want to go,the mistreatment of Japanese -Americans in ww2 would qualify as fairly recent,as would the discrimination against African-Americans before civil rights legislation.China's point is,I think, that everyone's hands are dirty if you look carefully enough.

Well he certainly will have now that you've given him that excuse, but that's not remotely what he said (take a look at what he underlined). I simply responded to his idiotic question.

I guess these things I listed don't count as human rights violations since they weren't against descendents from Africa? As far as that goes, I would consider the tenor of the War on Drugs to qualify, as well.

Those things qualify as human rights violations (in my opinion) but not against afro-descendants. I'm not entirely sure about the war on drugs being a human rights violation against afro-descendants.

I think "afro-descendant" should take the place of "african american."

Yeah, of all places to try and criticize the US of of the mistreatment of a group of people, China is the second to last country who should be saying anything like that (the first being North Korea).

The article doesn't talk about the drug war too much, but the fact that while 75-80% of drug users are white only 25% of those arrested for drugs are white and only 12% of drug users are black yet make up 55% of drug arrests is telling.

I'm curious how that contradicts his point, particularly when no relevant statistics are provided that might show that it had any sort of racist backing. That's like a Phatscotty argument.

I agree. Does spending TRILLIONS of tax dollars to bailout Wall Street and other American corporations qualify as civil abuse or is it just a gross misconduct of those in power to not hold anyone accountable for massive the fraud employed by banking institutions to fuck their investors and bottom out the World's economy?

Is China's news so slow that they're just becoming aware of the American civil rights movement? Where was their "opinion" when the shit was actually hitting the fan? It's been fifty years since WW II veteran Medgar Evers was murdered in front of his family at his home in Jackson, Mississippi.

China couldn't care less about that now or 50 years ago, their point if I understand it is America is hypocritical in telling others how to behave when their own record is less than stellar.

injecting any human with syphilis, yeah, that's a human rights violation. THAT MUST BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY! (But passing it sexually, on purpose, not so much?)
