(I'm not a tight end)

I'm asking buddhists because I want to rule out the "Football is here for our amusement and service" line found on some religious texts.

You need to call it american football, even though it was invented in Canada at McGill University.

Is this a trick question?
Most Buddhists are from India
India was an English Colony.
England is a part of Europe.
Europeans use the term "football" to describe the game that in the US is called "soccer."
So of course playing football is OK, anything else just wouldn't be cricket.

Well that was a cricket stadium in Bangalore, but you get the point.

Why would I call it american football when it's universally defined as just football?

I don't think the word "universally" means what you think it does, i,e, "here in the US".

I think as long as they maintain a vegetarian diet, and refrain from acts that prevent them from reaching Nirvana, football is okay,

The US is the universe, hence "US" being short for "universe."

Glad I could help.

1. Everyone who is American has it good.
2. Everyone who isn't American is jealous.
3. Therefore, jonesthecurl is jealous.

I agree that immigrating to the US can be geographically challenging--especially if you're walking, but one day, jones, one day!, you will rejoice in knowing that you are an official US citizen.

You americans are all the same and now you even have a landed immigrants saying it too.

Football is called soccer in CANADA TOO because we also play football. Like I said it was invented here. In Canada we have Canadian football which is very similar yet different from American football, which are both very different from soccer (football).

I'm glad that bullfighting has won the vote with a landslide 2-1 victory. I can't stand bullfights that don't feature a football game at halftime.
