Really? The only response is from someone that doesn't get it.

Do not despair. I know why, and I approve. (These are the same guys who built and flew the human-powered ornithopter a while back.)

How are those cables from the bike attached to the rotary 'blades'?

That's not fair. I want to ride my bike in the air...

The government should subsidize this for my benefit--I mean, for the good of the people. Rich people can take the hit because who gives a f*ck about them, right?

I assume you are asking how they convert the power in the bike to power at the blades?

Its basically a series of pistons to rotational motion not dissimilar to your car.

Piston Action (legs on bike) -> Rotational Action (cog on bike) -> Piston Action (tension cables between bike and blades) -> Rotational Action (blades).

You cant apply the rotational force directly since you have four individual blades to power. I imagine they have some kind of system where you apply force to two blades on your right leg downstroke and the other two on your left leg downstroke.

Amazing! Fun design too.

Looks real simple to setup. "Wanna go for a pedal-copter ride? Gimme about 2 hours..., and then I'll be on my way!"

Oh, I saw it too. In fact, I was very tempted by Amazon's one-day deal recently: The Flintstones Complete Series - $43.99
