Cruz Decision to Release Birth Certificate Backfires

Birther Rep. Ted Cruz symbolically released his birth certificate yesterday, but the stunt backfired when it was unexpectedly discovered in the document that he's a Canadian citizen. Cruz has responded by angrily denouncing Canada and vowing to seek to have his Canadian citizenship annulled.
The Texas Republican shared his birth certificate Sunday with The Dallas Morning News. It shows his place of birth as Calgary, Alberta, to an American mother, a fact which conferred upon him American citizenship.
But Canadian lawyers told the Morning News that Cruz’s birth in Canada also instantly conferred upon him Canadian citizenship, though a spokeswoman for Cruz said he was not aware of having dual citizenship.
On Monday, Cruz agreed he would renounce his Canadian citizenship.

Wow, what a dipshit. Did he just never ask his parents where he was born?
Also, can we all just agree to drop the birther thing? Even if you strongly feel that Obama was born in another country there are (relatively) easier ways to get Obama impeached if you really want to. How about you just bring charges against him over any of his numerous violations of the Fourth Amendment? I mean, that accusation actually has some evidence behind it. Are you really going to stick with beating this phantasmal dead horse to the resounding apathy of the majority of the country?

And Cruz's wife works for our friends at Goldman Sachs, which is worse than being born in Canada. So that's two strikes against Ted Cruz.

I see your two strikes and raise you three pictures that nullify and give Cruz a +1. I mean, just look at these coy photos:

Ironically, he did exactly what Harper said he would and moved back to the U.S. the day after he lost. You can take a class from him at Harvard - including a graduate module "designed to test student responses to practical ethical dilemmas for those seeking and holding public office in the United States" ... http://www.hks.harvard.edu/degrees/teac ... ng/dpi-205

Cruz is a Republican Tea Bagging parrot nearly as embarrassing as the TX Gov.
He was less than impressive in his campaign debates and still dominated the red state election . . . Shooting himself in the foot was the only thing that would have derailed his campaign.
IF there was anything truth worthy of Impeaching the prez it would have already happened.

I doubt it. If the Repubs try to impeach Obama on 'constitutional infractions', then they'd be setting themselves up for future impeachments/trials against potential Repub presidents, so why stir the hornet's nest? 'Business as usual' is the cheapest, safest way to go about it--as oppose to the claim "there's nothing truth worthy of impeaching the prez."

You spelled "predictably" wrong and I don't think I "can" take a course at Harvard. I would move to the US&A if I could. I sort of like Canada but it's not worth putting up with the cold.

You "may" take a course at Harvard?

The real question is "should" you take a course at Harvard and "can" the moderators of CC dictate this to you?

Lest any questions remain about Sen. Ted Cruz's national allegiance, the Texas Republican announced Monday he was renouncing his Canadian citizenship.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, who says he recently discovered he is likely a Canadian, must win security clearance from Canada's spy agency, fill out a four-page form and then wait up to eight months to sever his ties to America's northern neighbor.

The world needs less morons, not more. He should be set adrift in a boat in the middle of the Pacific. The gene pool doesn't need his genes. How the f*ck did he get elected being that stupid?

Because he and his team were great at convincing people that he's the answer to their problems.
Did you ask the gene pool about that? What's its number?--because I've got a few questions too.

Rafael Eduardo Cruz blames his mom for not giving him better legal advice:
“When I was a kid, my mom told me that if I ever wanted to, I could affirmatively choose to claim Canadian citizenship, but I got a U.S. passport when I was in high school, I never did anything to affirmatively claim citizenship, so I thought that was the end of the matter,” Cruz said on CNN yesterday.
In other news, Cruz reports that, while his mom still does his laundry, he is working on becoming more independent and even just got a learner's permit.

Ted Cruz said his father described himself as among young teenage boys who fought Batista and allied with Castro’s forces because “they didn’t know Castro was a Communist ..."
