Anywhoo, I will say this...I know I am very lucky to be in the part of the country that I am, and I deeply feel for those who have not been as lucky, and as I said, I know what a bad economy is like and how hard it can be and thank GWB for that wonderful experience....

Just curious, where did this "statistic" come from?
This is the first I've heard of GWB's jobs growth.

Also... I'm sure AAFitz is just feeling the effects
of Ronald Reagan's trickle down economics,
which are finally arriving.

I hope others are enjoying the raging economy too. Sorry to see you guys have so much time to waste basing it....

About four or five months ago I was rolling through Hammond, Indiana, and the interstate was shut down because of a major accident. I got off to go around the delay, and not being very familiar with the area, I took a really circuitous route through the city.
What I saw along the way was truly horrific. Miles of depressed areas. In one section I counted 16 city blocks with nothing but boarded-up storefront. It was truly scary shit. I was thinking, "Has there been a nuclear war and I didn't notice? A plague? A zombie apocalypse?"
What you can see firsthand is very limiting. Don't get we wrong -- it can be useful, but only if you don't try to generalize beyond your horizon. What you see in your booming business and what I saw in along the I-94 there are both extremes, and neither of them represents the situation fairly.

House prices are still down 50% from their peak, oil is over 100$ a barrel, interest rates are still at rock bottom, gas is almost 4$ a gallon, and our government is going DEEP into debt just to stay afloat. Nice raging economy
Imagine if house prices rose 50%, oil was 30$ a barrel and gas was 1.68 a gallon, wow the economy was REALLY be raging wouldn't it? That's exactly how things were....in 2003 2004 2005 2006

If you look at every job number survey in the nation, you'll see that your position is the exception, not the rule. In any economy, there will always be exceptions: in a booming economy, some sectors will do poorly; in a sluggish economy, some sectors will boom. That's why we mentioned areas that might be doing well.....those directly supported by the government.

Well, I have no doubt how you will explain that private residential construction is being directly supported by government....so have at it...Im always a fan of your fiction, it makes for a great read every time. Original, creative, and passionate to the core.
