Not all of those wars were the UK's fault (although, Neville Chamberlain...)

Peace-keeping does not count as being 'at war'.

What would that be between 1923 and 1936 for example?

War on good food does not count.

You need to remember that mrswdk considers the subjugation of India as a war.

EDIT: Caffeine started this thread, not mrswdk

Bangers and mash is lovely if you eat proper food. Spam, no. Full English breakfast. Fish and chips. Roast dinners. I could go on but I'm hungry now. Toad in the hole!

Bangers and mash are pretty good if you slather them with garlic-and-peppercorn sauce. Spam is fine, as long as it's drenched in Dijonaisse. Full English breakfast can be made edible with the liberal application of Tabasco sauce. Roast dinners can be made interesting with curry.

In short, British food has the basic elements of good food, except for flavour, which can generally be added, as long as you have foreign additives available.

This is why they had an empire for so many centuries.

I'm not against soaking that breakfast in Tabasco. I like to fire up the brown sauce myself.

Yorkshire pudding people!

Or you're actually a half fucking decent cook and make your food flavoursome and don't need to taint hearty, traditional English meals with the above crap.

Condiments are like nice swimsuits. They won't fix a beast but might be very nice on an attractive model.

A good fry up is good. A splash of sauce can make it stellar!

I should be, but currently I'm just waiting for my wife to cause the next problem with her supposed plan, of me driving her to the other side of Maui to the big K mart.

Sounds grim, but that brings us on to another British classic: Tikka Massala!

Good luck with that.

Fucking coincidence or what! I literally, not half an hour ago, ate Tikka Massala!

Someone was talking about margaritas, so I got hungry, and I went down to Taco Tequila's for a chimichanga, but it turns out they were closed. Not sure if they're closed Tuesdays of if they're closed permanently (a lot of places in Niagara Falls go tits-up during the off-season) so I was just driving around at random, when I spotted a sign saying, "Pakistan India Hakka Buffet, $12.95"

"W00T!" quoth I! "Pakistan India Hakka Buffet only $12.95. We're here for a monster of a pig-out session!"

So I went in, but I found out the sign is from the summer. During the off-season there's no buffet, it's a la carte only, and there's nothing under $13.95 on the carte. So I ordered some Chicken Tikka Massala. Even the Naan was extra, so in the end the fuckers raped me out of $21.00 after tax and tip, but although a bit pricey, it was absolutely fucking excellent! Just top of the line!

I only had to eat at Burger King for two months because the snow never stopped and I was working 14 hours a day. Didn't have time for anything slower than a drive-through. But now, we have had, for the first time in 75 days, three consecutive days of sunshine!

No fucking snow = no fucking snow plows!

So two days in a row I only went in to work for three or four hours, just catching up paperwork and negotiating with the mechanics (the mechanics work for us, be mechanics are the fucking prima donnas of the transportation industry, we still have to kiss their ass to get anything done.) That was Monday and Tuesday. And then today, I really went over the top. I called my camp clerk and said, "f*ck it all, I'm not going to work at all today! There's no snow, and there's nothing on my desk that won't wait until tomorrow."

So, for three days I had time to eat something other than Burger King! Monday I actually cooked, real cooking instead of microwavable dinners for the first time in two months. I pulverized some liver and made homemade liverwurst, on artisan multigrain bread with a big-ass salad.

Then Tuesay I went Vietnamese.

And today (scroll up) I had Tikka Massala!
