Personally, I would think that if some deadfolk are just laying around, rotting and molding, and someone comes along and gives them a chance to rise up and do some useful work, like saving the town from a raiding party, that would be seen as a good thing.

Why are Necromancers always considered the bad guys?

Cuz Necromancers don't care to wait on donations for science. They just take the dead bodies as they please.

I support the unevilfication of necromancers.

That being said, have you ever heard of a necromancer having a group of the undead clean up a town?

Ceremonial Burial is the only posited difference between ancient man and "the Missing Link".

Universally in cultures, the dead are something to be revered, not raised.

inb4 someone posts some bullshit culture in which this is not true.

Cause they could raise an army of zombies and according to many movies these guys are a pain in the ass.

You should look up the book "Sabriel" by Garth Nix. The main character is a necromancer that keeps the dead... dead.

Because they are flouting the law of Kansas that says thou shalt not raise the dead.

Activity with the dead and bodies has often been looked down upon by societies.

I tried to find a picture of a sad necromancer, but I couldn't find any. This likely suggests they don't cry and don't care about this issue.

In Diablo 2 they were neutral, using necromancy to keep the balance between good and evil. An army of skellies and revives ftw.

My experience with Necromancers, they attack you or send their undead warriors at you if you accidentally get too close. After smashing their undead with my warhammer, yelling at the guy I'm just passing through to the Throat of the World, he then starts blasting at me with fire, ice, and/or lightning. Then I get really mad and and begin Shouting at him, and accidentally send him tumbling down the cliffside...

Also ran into some trying to raise some "Wolf Queen" or something just outside of Solitude. I wanted to see how their ritual was going, but as soon as I come into their lair, they send their undead warriors at me! I just wanted to observe them raise someone long dead.

Necromancers, in my opinion, tend to be rather moody and very angry and aggressive. If they would just dabble in some resotration magic every so often, maybe they wouldn't be so cranky.
