Did Bay ditch the whole turtles-as-aliens move? And I'm pretty sure the same special effects were used in some of the Transformers trailers.

I'll just leave this here.

Wait, the TMNT guys are aliens? I thought they were changed by green slime.

I'm not happy about this at all. It looks like Transformers.

They weren't aliens. According to the cartoon, they were some turtles in a jar which some kid dropped in the sewer, and some toxic green stuff or whatever turned them into Super Mutant Turtles (they're already Teenagers).

Yep, Michael Bay wanted to change them from mutants to space aliens, for some reason. Maybe because he made so much bank with his other movie about space aliens that land on earth to fight evil? From the trailer, though, it looks like they're back to being mutants.

But even though Micheal Bay is the devil, he was indirectly responsible for Transformers Animated and Transformers Prime being made, so I can't blame the man too much.

But really? He had to have Megan Fox as April O'Neill? Amy Adams would have been great in the role (but I guess that would be too close to her Lois Lane portrayal).

Olivia Thirlby would have been rad, too.

But Michael Bay really doesn't figure personality or brains into his actress selections.

I guess?

And Sym, yeah, the new TMNT cartoon is pretty great.

Nerd note: if you read the original version of the origin story, it is obviously meant to be the same accident in which Daredevil gets his powers. They never say so, because copyright, Marvel, etc.

Right! The ninjas part was from all the ninjas Daredevil always fights. The teenage mutant part was a poke at Marvel's mutants. I don't know about the turtle part, though. [Ah, Wikipedia says it's a reference to Dave Sim's Cerebus.] The first issue even has the accident where Daredevil gets his powers.

The UK version of the animated series censored the "ninja" part. It ended up as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.

Exactly. The teenager is not named as Matt Murdock, but we all know.

Yeah, that sort of crap happens sometimes when stuff crosses the Atlantic. Batman Beyond became Batman of the Future. Top Cat became Boss cat, and going in the other direction, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone became Harry Potter and the Sorcerors Stone. And then there was the notorious change from The Madness of George III to The Madness of King George - allegedly because there were fears that an American audience might think they' missed the first two films...

and here is another one: In the early 90's, HBO came out with a tongue-in-cheek movie based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft and ended up calling it "Cast a Deadly Spell". The show creators originally wanted to call it simply, "Lovecraft", but were told audiences would thing it was am updated version of "The Love Boat"...
