3 weeks ago, I became an uncle, as my brother had a son.
This morning, my brother Kirby was coming home after working what amounted to a triple shift. He must have fallen asleep at the wheel, as he veered into the wrong lane.
He is now in a coma, and has a damaged cerebellum. He may be a vegetable for the rest of his life.

This is indeed sad news. The conquerclub community is behind you and your family in a time like this. Much like I have seen them stand behind other members and their tragedies. The guy with a family who died on his motorcycle comes to mind.

This is very unfortunate and sorrowing. I feel a bond in my soul to all humans and hope and pray that Kirby pulls through as miracles are real. Praying for you and hope you keep upbeat as I know how a human brain can work.

By all accounts a gifted young man. Will be a real shame if he doesn't make it.
One of those days when the fragility of our bodies is driven home to us.

Something that is happening as I cruise through the middle age of physical human times. Larry David and his pal Jerry discussed it. I spend so much more time thinking about death, desease and just how frail we are. Particularly, "Boy, this part of me feels funny/hurts. I bet it's (insert desease)." But also how something accidental and possibly mundane can take out a much younger and more vibrant person than me.
In short, I wiped out in the tub a couple of days ago and was basically unscathed. But instead of shrugging it off like a younger me, I really considered how fourtunate it was I cheated death or at least any even minor injury. I read once it was the number one household accident causing death, surpassing (at the time) all the things one would expect to be more typical dangerous activities. Misusing ladders or electricity for example.

If I had an animated Star Trek gif that could make things better, I'd use it.

Pimpdave. Sorry I missed the humorous part. My bad. I first read it and thought you were shitting on DY and people in this thread. You were talking about the actual comments under the article. Misinterpreted it.

He is officially brain dead. In the next 12-24 hours 8 of his organs will be transplanted. He received the highest average, and received his diploma and top student award.
RIP Kirby
