Have you ever been to bars/clubs by yourself? Why, and what was the outcome?

Bars, frequently. To watch sporting events I can't watch either in my house or, more typically, while on the road in my hotel room. The outcome is I watch said sporting event while drinking, the game ends, and I go home/back to my hotel.

I used to go out to a weekly local music night. Often times I would go by myself. I would always run in to people I knew though.

Bars and Clubs are for meeting the opposite sex, unless you're gay.

Yes, I would go alone to increase my odds on scoring. Bringing guys with you is like bringing a wolf pack with you and it scares most chicks away.

I drink alone.
With nobody else.

I go to 2 bars by myself. One is where my bookie drinks, so I go for a couple of beers and bitch about his lines.
The other bar is the horse racing bar. It's such a dive, I wouldn't bring a lady there.

Have never been to a club alone but unless I go with a girl the only reason to go to a crappy club is to pick up a girl and I prefer to do that solo so end up leaving the people who I went with anyway so might as well have gone alone.

Bars, only when traveling I go alone or if I really want to watch some sporting event on a big screen.

Generally I prefer cafes to bars or clubs though.

No biggie, do it all the time.

I saw George in a bar in my hometown in 82. It was the craziest bar scene I have ever witnessed. Everyone was standing on the tables. They were selling 24 beer, all opened in the boxes. I have never seen anything like it since.

I went to a symphony by myself like a year ago.

Not really... maybe a few times, I think usually while waiting for something or someone, but I usually felt awkward. I think I've gotten 1 or 2 conversations out of those kinds of experiences. Some reason though I feel totally at home sitting in a coffee shop by myself. Probably cause I'm usually working on something when I do that.

i'm really not that kind of guy, I don't do these things alone. bars, clubs, movies, restaurant, drink/smoke pot.... always need to be with friends.

I would probably go out solo more often if it wasn't, like, 5x as expensive to drink out at the bars. I can get a six pack or a whole fifth for the price of two or three drinks. Not worth it. Maybe if my pool hustlin' skills were better.

Pool skills does make drinking cheap. Going to bars had to do with entertainment and picking up drunk chicks.

Oh, man, that's been me for the past two and a half weeks. Substitute underwear for pajamas and Breaking Bad for my stupid computer that can't load Morrowind, and you've nailed my temporarily-single lifestyle.

I thought about calling up Chariot of Fire to go hang out, but I lost the dude's number. Doh!

It's okay, there are probably some Mainlanders letting their kid relieve himself against the front door of your building as we speak. Best just to sit tight.
