Doing this because How To Train Your Dragon 2 is coming out Friday.

Truth be told, it wasn't until about a month or two ago that I watched it for the first time, the main reason is that the plot had been done to death, a kid who just doesn't fit in with his peers because he does things differently, does/discovers something that redeems him, becomes hero to his peers. What I didn't know, was how well it was executed. The characters are interesting, there's actually a pretty good reason for the conflict (and the whole vikings vs dragons thing is a pretty good combo too), and the main character (and even his whole village) goes through some major changes by the end of the movie. The animation is done superbly, the acting is good, and the overall story and execution of said story makes this movie pretty freakin' good.

I give it a 9/10. Only reason it's not higher is because of the overly used plot line. Great for families, great for by yourself, check it out sometime if you get a chance too!

98% on Rotten Tomatoes! The first movie was pretty rad, but we'll see about the second one.

The comic Multiplex did several bits on How to Train Your Dragon:

Jason, the main character, actually buys a Hiccup and a Night Fury toy, and the toy starts, uh, talking to him.

I thought it was a good flick, maybe not as good as Gordon McAlpin, Mutliplex's writer.

Here's a couple of recent strips:

Something tells me you never watched it and judge it merely based off it being animated than live action. Like the excuse some people use to say why they saw The Last Airbender movie and thought it was bad and never bothered with the source material which is actually quite good when given a chance.

The reviews for the second movie look good. I'm definitely looking forward to it now.
