Planet Hollywood in the West End has all sorts of Hollywood memorabilia you can check-out and also pretty good dining. I understand it's where all the locals go, too, so you'll get a taste of the native flavor. If you're staying a bit further east, Islington Lanes is a really good bowling alley. Not the best but they have really clean restrooms and very friendly staff. Could be fun.
Also, you'll be right next door to France.
So, maybe like a day at the hotel pool, then check-out the bowling alley and Planet Hollywood, and then perhaps pop over to France for 7 or 8 days?
(Disclaimer: I'm not in England. Symmetry usually fields these questions, I'm just standing in for him at the moment.)
My favourite UK zoo is in Hampshire- Marwell Zoo. I spent many a day there when I lived about an hour away. London's full of good stuff, you'll have no lack of guidance there. You should check out at least one castle. Arundel, Harlech, Windsor, Leeds (which is in Kent, not in Leeds) and Warwick are all excellent examples. Water parks are not a big thinkg in the Uk cos of weather. But there's a number of theme parks - Legoland, Alton Towers, Paulton Park if your kids are small. Avoid Morris dancers at all costs, but you might find some interesting period re-enactments going on depending on timing. Where will you be?

The Brixton area of London is a great place to see the 'real' UK. The weekend late night street festivals in particular are fantastic.

Windsor Castle was very nice.

Call everyone a wanker. It's a friendly term.
Let's say you want to buy some fish at the local chippy.
Your conversation should go like this:
"ey wanker, let's 'ave some fish" "f*ck you dick'ead, that'll be sixteen shillings you wanker" "bloody hell mate, how am I supposed to finance my online porn subscriptions and 'ave fish as well?" "tell me about it mate, it's all that wanker clegg's fault"

Depends what area of the country you're going to be in.
London is London. Museums, zoos, sights etc.
Lake district, Peak district, France etc are all good too.

I totally agree with some of the above posters: France is definitely one of the major attractions when you visit England.
Anyway, make sure to visit a good ol' English country pub for some good ol' English pub grub.

The wanker nearly knocked me off me plates—he was wearing a syrup! So I ran up the apples, got straight on the dog to me trouble and said I couldn't believe me mincers!
Top ten places to visit/things to do in England (don't bother with France):
The tower of London London Eye/Aquarium Buckingham Palace Houses of Parliament Science Museum (free) Natural History Museum, particularly if your kids are into dinosaurs (also free) Take an open top double decker tour bus (will drop off at most of the above) Take a Thames cruise down to Greenwich (visit the observatory and the park) Thorpe Park or Lego Land .....and finally you must spend at least one day at the seaside...Brighton is good and has a funfair and fantastic fish restaurant
Hope this helps and have a great time in this lovely country

I haven't been in London in years and never saw the rest of England. I had limited time on both trips to London but there was plenty of things to see there.

If you'd like to throw eggs and groceries at the parliament buildings I could direct you to a nearby store.
