what beer are you drinking right now?

well, lets say that i love beer. i am a big "craft" guy. even though i dont like that saying. i run a bar/restaurant that i carry 36 draft beers. 31 of those are on the craftier side of things.

i just got home, and cracked open a beer.

i am big into sours/wilds...they are ales that are on the tartier side of the spectrum. a new found love of mine. i used to be big into ipas and barrel aged stouts. but now its sours.

i am drinking a vintage 2012 goose island madame rose right now. a cherry sour. i pulled it out of the cellar, and compared to the 2014 madame rose, i much prefer the aged 12.

cheers

please post in this thread when and where you are enjoying a delicious beer.

"Mikkeller K:rlek Plae Ale (Höst/vinter 2014)"

"K:rlek" being some hip way of writing "kärlek" which means love in Danish & Swedish. Höst/Vinter is autumn/winter

Have you heard of the Danish "Micro"-Brewery Mikkeller? They are quiet big in Scandinavia.
You'd feel right at home in Gothenburg. We basically have a whole street full of pubs that focus on craft beer. Not to mention being able to procure it in limited supply in a majority of the pubs around town.
Also, one could complain about the state-run liquor stores (because of he monopoly)... but many of the shops do have a decent selection of craft-beer. And as they have the monopoly they have to cater to all tastes. They have catalog you can order from that includes, well lets just say a lot... But as the shop close to my work has a very decent manager I usually never bother to order, as there are so many good lables to choose from on the shelves at any given time. They are always renewing what's inshop, so there is rarely time to become dissatisfied. Just the Swedish Mirco-breweries alone keep you busy pumping out new creations all the time.

Oh, and do you get BrewDog over there? Excellent stuff.

mikkeller is one of my favorite brewers. he is a gypsy brewer. meaning he doesnt have his own brewery. he rents them out, and travels. his tiger baby is a great beer. i actually have 4 of his beers in my fridge.

that sounds like a shit load of fun where you live.

ron, how familiar are you with the Michigan brewing scene? I'm in metro Detroit, and I live within walking distance from Dragonmead Brewery. Final Absolution is probably their most well known, it's a Belgian style beer with a relatively high alcohol content (8.5%), but without the liquor taste that sometimes comes along with high octane beers. Michigan has a lot of great breweries, from Atwater and Kuhnhenn in the Detroit area, to Bells and New Holland on the west side of the state.

Bollocks.

very familiar with it. bell's, dark horse, founders, new holland are amongst my favorite breweries around. i just bought a keg from dark horse called edacsac eert dekoorc. it spells crooked tree cascade backwards. it is part of their single hop series. i had their ollopa last time. you guessed it. all apollo hops.

Into the Omegang brewery beers atm . Their quad ale more specifically. But I'm generally a bourbon barrel stout guy. Old Rasputin being my all time favorite.

Dollar draft beers from the migrant workers who run an ad-hoc bar in a park near me. It says Yanjing on the kegs, but who knows.

Made beer for many years (pre fatherhood when I had time...lol)...favorite was a Russian Imperial Stout like blend I came up with, heavy on the roasted, burnt and chocolate malts and light on the boiling and finishing hops (admittedly NOT an IPA fan). Really came out well when a small batch of psilocybin tea was blended in - coined that one Psycho-Suds ;)

Now I have to watch my girlish figure so drink bud / coors lite, BUT Oregon has a huge craft beer presence so enjoy the occasional real beer while out ;o) Had a fine seasonal harvest brew last nite....as well as a locally brewed elderberry cider.

(thank you for the non-posturing thread ;o)

I miss IzMan and those awesome, "Beers of the world" threads he used to make.

Funny. I used to be very against putting that wedge of lime in beer because it was rampant here and they never asked if I wanted to have fruit in my beer.

Now I have bud light with lime in my fridge.

I have tend towards porters for a very long time and my favorite seems to be Tetley Cream ale. I have been in a pilsner/lager phase for around two years now.

It gets you drunk, you only have to pay a dollar a go, I don't seem to be having any health complications. Tick, tick, tick.
