lol, you're talking about the 7th century BC or so. Why would you start with the gauls then and not even earlier? We are gauls (celts)-roman-franks-phenicians and the whole bunch of other stuff that came later. We didn't just come up in the 90s with that name because we thought it would look we have a lot of history.
Why are the english called like that, the germans called like that, the italians and such? There is thousands of years of history behind all our names, and we are certainly not going toenumerate all the civilizations that made each end result. Otherwise good luck with giving an accurate name to the USA!

You are just making my poit. Gauls were invaded by Franks and we ARE partly Franks. Otherwise use the same logic with angles. Was there a country called france before we stole the name from?

And yes, Ford was way too tired from other scenes as he was sick during this shooting, and just did that joke that wasn t in the script.

We declared independence in 1991 but we were independent within Yugoslavia(as much as Croatians, Serbs, Slovenians...). We call our selves Macedonians(not FYR Macedonains as betiko says). Half of EU is referring us as FYR Macedonia, for the rest of the world we are Macedonia(including US, Russia, China and UK).
Genetically we have Ancient Macedonian and Slavic heritage, culturally we are more related to Slavs since when Slavs arrived in my country the culture of the Ancient Macedonians was already gone and good part of Slavic culture drawn its origin from Macedonia... including the Cyrillic script i mentioned before.

Alexander the great comes from the green part that is today greece. Ancient macedionians spoke a greek dialect, they were nothing slav.
The slavs arrived on the 7th century after christ, so they have absolutely nothing to do with the ancient macedonia. Even if you look at this map, what is marked in red is the borders of the ancient macedonia of alexander the great; it has almost nothing to do with FYROM. In grey is what we refer to in modern days when we refer to macedonia, that is a region. Goran comes from a state within the region called macedonia... and they deceptively called it macedonia. Blame us for calling you FYR of macedonia. Maedonia is either the name of an antique nation or a modern region. You just showed up 20 years ago and said... "wouldn't it sound cool if our new country was called macedonia? It would look like we actually have a history and shit"
