I don't understand why almost everybody wanted France to win. I'm glad Italy won that WC title. France was too dependent on Zidane and the italians really did have a very good complete team.

well maybe in belgium. in spain people definitely wanted italy to win. Objectively speaking we deserved way more that final, Buffon saved their ass over and over again while they barely had any clear ocasions. You can't possibly lose a final more tragically... a final you've been winning 1-0 so long with a goal from Zidane... then italy scores just when the game gets a bit more even.. the last half hour was totally french, and the 30 minutes OT was totally french... until zidane's headbut. then you lose on penaltys 5-4 with trezeguet not really missing...he hits the bar and it bounces on the line. bs.
