What Do You Drive and Why?

I like the classics and drive a 1993 Chevy S-10 pickup. In New Hampshire, all models after 1993 have to pass emissions so I hand picked this baby. I also do most of my own mechanical work and the Chevy is a pleasure(knock on wood). I've also got another, newer pickup but the S-10 is my true love and I choose it(Tina) nearly every time.
Some of my friends and relatives have voiced concern that my relationship with my vehicle has reached an unhealthy level but when I ask them, they've never even TRIED tailpipe love.

2006 avalanche. My wife bought it because it has a soft suspension so it rides nice, can pull her travel trailer, has the DVD player for the kids and a nice Bose stereo for me.
I have a 2001 heritage softail presumably to compensate. I would like to trade up to a touring frame (roadglide or streetglide) for a softer highway ride.
Apple's spell cheque does not speak h-d.

A woman at my work has a Ridgeline (essentially the same thing from what I can tell?) and she absolutely loves it. She does a lot of gardening and stuff so she hauls various bags of animal feces with it. The guys at work kind of cringe when she calls it her "truck" (not me, though, I drive an s-10 lol) but it seems like a nice little rig. How do you like it? I take it from your compensate remark that you feel slightly less a man when you drive it lol?

I have a 1998 GMC 2500 - it took me a long time to find and I will drive it until it dies. It's the rare combination of long-box / standard cab, with a 5 speed manual transmission and 4X4. I love the look of the 89-98 Chev/GMC trucks, and have an affinity for the standard cab (literally just a bench seat and if you lean your head back, you hit the back window). With the low-end torque that the V8 Vortec puts out, the heavy-duty transmission, and 4X4 low, I could rip trees out of the ground if I wanted to. Recommended shift speed in normal driving from 1st to 2nd gear is 2 km/hr, so I don't use first gear unless I'm towing, hauling something heavy, off-roading, or "stuck" in the winter.
I just turned 450,000 kilometres on it earlier this week, but that basically only measures the body. Since I've owned it, I've replaced the gas tank, the rear brakes, the clutch, and a bunch of other little things as well as dropping a brand new engine in it at 435,000. It needs new helper shocks in the back as she rides rough on only the leaf springs right now, but that's a fix for later.

I've noticed a lot of this era of Chevys on the road and that's always a good sign. I agree, too, they're pretty smexy, especially the standard cab. I was actually looking at some when I was shopping around but, as I mentioned earlier, Cupid's arrow struck.
I had thought I wanted the full bed on the s-10 but then I saw one in a parking lot and mine was just so much cuter!

I have a 2010 ford E150 work van. A 2003 Lincoln Town Car for personal use. A 1977 Cadillac Coupe Deville with a white top and copper paint. I like old cars. Go to the local car show with over 10,000 cars from 1964 and older every year.

Huh. I have a Chevy S-10 1993 pickup as well. Red and black. Though I picked it because my old(er) truck (a '74 Chevy Cheyenne series) had pretty much bit the dust and was costing more to keep it running than what it was worth. But the little S-10 works. Though the bed is considerably smaller than the older one (only thing I miss about the old one).

What do French people drive, anyway? I just picture multiples of the little blue three wheeled car from Mr. Bean... I know you all have better taste than to drive Fiats or (gasp!) Pontiacs.

I have a 2008 vw eos. People in america that haven t driven in europe don t really understand the size of our cars. Having a a big pick up truck like you guys would be completely stupid in terms of traffic agility, to find parking spots, gas efficiency and so on.
For example... I love my car but I think it s slightly too big sometimes. And that would be a very small car for you guys..

I drive a 2011 Peugeot 207. It's small so easy parking, it doesn't use much Diesel and it's environmentally friendly.
I'm astonished how americans still drive their environmentally unfriendly cars around. It's why GM and Ford went bankrupt. Everywhere else in the world those cars are just a waste of money.

I think in time that will change. People are certainly more aware of fuel efficiency that then were in the past and there is more of a demand for eco-friendly cars. I would not think it to be the norm at this point, especially in certain segments of the car buying population, but even larger cars are being designed with more thought towards being eco-friendly.

I used to have an old Jetta and I loved how it made me feel like a drunken racecar driver.
You should really google my s-10 four cylinder, though. Your vw would probably make a better delivery truck.

Not necessarily Texas but definitely right wing. The huge-ass ford emblem is a big tip off(we've got a ford dealership in my town, by the way.

)

Anything from '71 is beautiful. I wish I could go to an alternate universe where it's 1971 forever!
'71 Parisienne... one of the most beautiful cars ever. '71 Olds Cutlass... my teacher had one. I used to hang around in the teachers' parking lot just staring at the thing. '71 was the year the El Camino came out, too! Magic!

American cars are ridiculously stupidly cool. Well 50s to 70s. Just love them.
Would love to own a 67-69 camaro ss and a 68-69 charger.
