Going to happen for many jobs. I just read an article today stating that secretary-jobs will get replaced as well.

Restaurants can suck it! I ain't ordering wings at BDUBS from a computer/robot! Give me the REAL DEAL, or I ain't going to your restaurant anymore!

I gotta say that when going to a fastfood-restaurant, I expect zero service. So if a robot brings me my burger with fries, it's not that big a deal. That's how I experience it anyway.

Perhaps I'll act more shocked when the old school baker in my street (you know, that guy from the bakery that exists for 100 years, thus giving me the feeling that his bread and stuff must be great) is turning out to be a machine from now on. I'll feel robbed by life itself! And surely, after a few weeks I'll acknowledge the fact that this robot is one hell of a baker. This machine knows exactly (and I mean exactly!) what I want. And then I'll accept it and move on. Seems like the way things will happen and I don't really mind. As long as the quality of the bread I'm eating is on a consistently high level (and yeah, robots will make sure it is), you won't hear me complain.

I think it was all a plan from the get go. Use minimum wage as an excuse to replace the human. The corporation be like " we had no choice, its all your fault greedy human". I hope those people are not upset corporate America just played them like suckers. They came out with those systems pretty quick.

Why would 'the corporations' be looking for an excuse to get rid of their human staff If it made economic sense to replace cashiers with machines then the corporations would have done so already.

Do you think McDonald's is run by a cackling Dr Evil who is using his profits to build an Earth-destroying death ray or something?

If by "death ray" you mean "carbon dioxide and methane layer" then yes, yes indeed.

I apologize for discussing one of the most important issues of our century and its relevance to the fast food and meat production industries. Please, return to talking about Snapchat images.

Beats me why you want to spend so much of your time feeling panicky about polar ice caps.

I just had a workout then went for kebab sticks. It was great :D

Plus, to bring it back on topic, the guys who run the barbecue aren't an official business so there's no minimum wage to drive their prices up. We get cheap meat, they get a successful business.

Everybody wins!

Everybody except the animals that were killed so that you could have your kebab. And who cares how they're treated while they're alive -- as long as the price is low, let's not worry about it!

It's easy to put the blame on the people who started the argument for $15 hour. If they never asked for $15 they'd still have jobs. They workers can only blame themselves. The corporation would look bad if it suddenly fired thousands of workers purely for max profits. $15 hour wages was the economic excuse for the corporation to fire people.

Would Dr.Evil put pink slime as filler into the burger for max profits or for your max health?

High five!

My best move at Wendy's was one time when they brought out something we were waiting for and I handed the lady the cheese I did no want.

I truly thought when I first saw this thread that $15 was mrs. wdk's hourly rate.

I also thought it to be a bit steep.

NO, that's Starbucks, silly. Do I need to point out the recent Starbucks plan of having their coffee servers (foreign words my bottom) write messages on the cups to stimulate "conversation." Yes, only someone as blatantly stupid as Dr. Evil would ever think that would work.
