The Hopis. You are all welcome to come "Home". You all should visit the Hopis, speak to the Hopis, and prepare yourselves to quite possibly begin to live with the Hopis. Your nation is about to fall to the very factions they had foresaw many years before its time. This particular prophecy was revealed by the Hopi Elders to Mr. Frank Waters who was allowed to publish the book: The Book of the Hopi. I recommend reading it...soon. Your nation has very little time.

The United States will be destroyed, land and people, by atomic bombs and radioactivity. Only the Hopis and their homeland will be preserved as an oasis to which refugees will flee.

Bomb shelters are a fallacy. "It is only materialistic people who seek to make shelters. Those who are at peace in their hearts already are in the great shelter of life. There is no shelter for evil.

Those who take no part in the making of world division by ideology are ready to resume life in another world, be they Black, White, Red, or Yellow race. They are all one, brothers."

Hopi prophecy states that World War III will be started by the people who first received the Light: China, Russia, Palestine, India and Africa. When the war comes, the United States will be destroyed by "gourds of ashes" which will fall to the ground, boiling the rivers and burning the earth, where no grass will grow for many years, and causing a disease that no medicine can cure.

This can only mean nuclear or atomic bombs; no other weapon causes such effects. Bomb shelters will be useless, for "Those who are at peace in their hearts already are in the Great Shelter of Life.

There is no shelter for evil. When the Saquahuh (blue Star) Kachina dances in the plaza and removes his mask, the time of the great trial will be here." The Hopi believe that only they will be saved.

I believe that was covered in appendix IV of Federal Emergency Plan D-Minus.

This isn't your prophecy. This is America's. And we are going to get our asses handed to us by these fuckers!

Probably some type of "union" that they all will join and the United States won't like it.

"And it shall come to pass that what men made shall be shattered, and the Shadow shall lie across the Pattern of the Age, and the Dark One shall once more lay his hand upon the world of man. Women shall weep and men quail as the nations of the earth are rent like rotting cloth. Neither shall anything stand nor abide...

Yet one shall be born to face the Shadow, born once more as he was born before and shall be born again, time without end. The Dragon shall be Reborn, and there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth at his rebirth. In sackcloth and ashes shall he clothe the people, and he shall break the world again by his coming, tearing apart all ties that bind. Like the unfettered dawn shall he blind us, and burn us, yet shall the Dragon Reborn confront the Shadow at the Last Battle, and his blood shall give us the Light. Let tears flow, O ye people of the world. Weep for your salvation."

Gonna pretend I didn't see that last name part.

There actually was a "pilot" episode that aired back in February called "Winter Dragon" that is loosely based on the prologue of Eye of the World. Let's just say it was not well received by WOT fans anywhere. Or by Robert Jordan's widow. And it was done merely to retain the media rights. And Robert Jordan went to his grave cursing Red Eagle Entertainment for never actually doing anything with the series. It honestly could have been Game of Thrones before Game of Thrones.

I actually agree with your statement. Wheel of Time lost its window of opportunity...I don't know if it could ever be rekindled. Similar thing with Drizzt Do'urden and the Dark Elf Trilogy. RA Salvatore was in a position to offer it up to be made a movie, but he didn't feel right about it and never sold out. It's a good thing he did, because Hollywood was planning on having Wesley Snipes play Drizzt. The closest Drizzt fans had to seeing Drizzt in action was from a totally non related movie, but the fight scene surely was inspired by RA Salvatore's books.

Hellboy 2:

Hmmm? now that I think about it, I believe there was a prophecy as well concerning Drizzt when he was born. It's been a while since I read the books, but I am certain there was a prophecy involved.

I am thinking the popularity of GOT has actually opened the doors for stories like WOT and Drizzt. I would feel much better to see a well done TV series than a horribly put together movie. But the trend for DND putting together a decent movie seems to always fail...and fail incredibly bad.

In many ways I'm also glad that Hollywood has not wrecked one of the best written series in Fantasy. It'd be like them trying to make a movie out of Dark Souls in some aspects. Or it would end up like Eragon, and we all know how that one ended

Eragon, while certainly bad, is far from the worst movie adaptation. That falls to Dragon Ball Evolution and The Last Airbender.

But I think as a HBO series (or something similar), Wheel of Time could work, though it may be overall better animated than live action. And there are a number of highly acclaimed animated series and movies, so it would not be impossible. And why animated? Because with 14 books, each 500 pages (minimum), it would take awhile. And people's voices change a lot less than their looks over the course of a few years.

Cheer up guys! Patrick Rothfuss' books might get a movie, a series and a videogame :D
And MTV is about to release the Shannara TV-series in January. It would seem like hollywood is finally showing more confidence in the fantasy genre.

Am I like the only person who thinks Rothfuss' book is overrated? I read Name of the Wind becaue everyone talks about how great it was, but can't find myself to care enough to continue the trilogy.

It's maybe just not your cup of tea. Some people hail Steven Erikson, personally I can't even read more than 100 pages of his book before throwing it on the dead shelf.
The reason Rothfuss' books are so great in my opinion is because he does a much better job character building than most other fantasy writers, who seem to focus more on the plot building and world building.
