What sort of impression is whatever news you read giving you about the OCP change?

Just because from where I'm standing, it's really not a big change at all. The Family Planning Policy (known as the One Child Policy by foreign observers) always used to restrict most people to one child per couple, with some exemptions in the countryside and for ethnic minorities. Then it was loosened to allow couples who were both only children to have two kids, then last year to allow couples where one of the couple is an only child to have two children. Now this year they're saying they'll loosen it to just let everyone have two.

I think it should return to its previous level.

Furthermore, I think it should be applied across the entire planet until we get down to a reasonable population density.

If you limit couples to two kids, you will still have population reduction.

yeah, that sounds about right. unless of course you happen to be a religious zealot, then you can have 16...

Nah, I want there to be some impetus to develop realistic means to kick droves of people off the planet. Only when we're breathing down each other's necks will we get pissed off enough that we'll send those [insert hated culture/nationality/in-laws here] fuckers to space.
