Germany shocked by Cologne New Year gang assaults on women
The mayor of Cologne has summoned police for crisis talks after about 80 women reported sexual assaults and muggings by men on New Year's Eve.
The scale of the attacks on women at the city's central railway station has shocked Germany. About 1,000 drunk and aggressive young men were involved.
City police chief Wolfgang Albers called it "a completely new dimension of crime".
The men were of Arab or North African appearance, he said.
Women were also targeted in Hamburg.
But the Cologne assaults - near the city's iconic cathedral - were the most serious, German media report. At least one woman was raped, and many were groped.
Most of the crimes reported to police were robberies. A volunteer policewoman was among those sexually molested.

This reminds me of when the biased liberal media tried to claim rape rises in Sweden were due to the way they were being reported, rather than the clear an obvious answer that its because they are tolerant of immigrants who pray to Muhammad Ali.
Cologne attacks: 18 asylum seekers among 31 suspects
"Of the 31 suspects whose names are known, 18 have asylum seeker status," interior ministry spokesman Tobias Plate told reporters on Friday, citing federal police figures.
The suspects include nine Algerians, eight Moroccans, four Syrians, five Iranians, two Germans and one each from Iraq, Serbia and the US, he said.
The state police in Cologne have separately recorded 170 complaints of crimes, 117 of which involve sexual assault. There were two allegations of rape.
Officers arrested two men, aged 16 and 23 and apparently of North African origin, overnight on Thursday in connection with the sex attacks, according to German media.
Videos showing violent confrontations and sexual assaults against women outside the train station were found on the two men's mobile phones, Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR) reported (in German).
Officers also discovered a note on one of the men containing Arabic-German translations for phrases including "nice breasts", "I'll kill you" and "I want to have sex with you", the broadcaster said.
This is great. By backing sanctions and arms to the rebels, Germany supported the prolonging of the Civil War in Syria that resulted in a mass exodus of refugees. Now they get to sleep in the bed they made.
If you burn down someone's house, then you have to give them your own house. Seems fair.
Hopefully, within five years, we see the statue of Alfred the Great in the Walhalla Memorial replaced with Saladin ... and Arak and Hummus being served at Oktoberfest.

When Germany voted for sanctions on the Syrian Arab Republic and arms to the so-called FSA, it was also voting itself out of existence. This is wonderful! I don't understand people who go out on NYE. Just stay at home and get drunk by yourself like I do
actually check that, I was watching Hateful 8 during New Year's this year. I thought it'd only be about 2 hours but I got out of the theater at 12:10

Everything would be fine if we just trapped all the rapists and good people from other countries in their own countries, so this could happen without us having to know or care that it happened.

So to get this straight, you object to mistreat of animals in factory farms, but are happy for human beings to be mistreated as long as it is somewhere else?

You have no clue what you're talking about. It's the liberals and the nationalists(aka the right wing) that propose stricter immigration laws. It's the socialists, the greens and the christian-democrats that want to open the door(aka the the left wing and the centrists).

There were similar sexual assaults by Muslim asylum seekers in Finland during New Year Celebrations... but the Finish police was more successful then the Germans.
The Finnish police reported sexual assaults by asylum seekers on New Year’s Eve. Unlike in Cologne the Finns apparently managed to stifle any excess in the bud.
Much like in Cologne, the Finnish police in the capital Helsinki has reported numerous “widespread sexual assaults” on women on New Year’s Eve. “Such kind of harassment has never existed before New Year’s Eve or on other occasions,” told Helsinki’s Deputy Police Chief Ilkka Koskimaki on Thursday the news agency AFP. It involves “an entirely new phenomenon”.
From the police commissioned security forces had reported “widespread sexual assaults” on a central square, where about 20,000 people celebrated the beginning of the new year, police said. At the main railway station, where about a thousand asylum seekers, mainly from Iraq had gathered, had been three assaults. As a result three asylum seekers were arrested right there, Koskimaki stated.
The police further reported that they had before New Year’s Eve “gotten information of the fact that asylum seekers may have had similar plans as the men that gathered at Cologne’s main train station.” Therefore, the security precautions had been raised in advance “to an exceptional level.” A connection between the events in Helsinki and Cologne did Koskimaki not see, he said.
Due to the incidents on New Year’s Eve in Cologne there are now 121 criminal charges. According to Cologne police 16 possible suspects have been identified. The young men come thus “mainly” out of the North African region. In Hamburg were, according to the police so far 70 criminal charges of sexual harassment on New Year’s Eve. In the meantime sexual assaults were also reported from Switzerland and Austria.
OK, someone is going to have to explain this to me. What is your point?
Is it just that we should deport anyone not from this country because some Asylum Seekers have done awful things? Would they not just do awful things back in their own countries?
If you shut the door on the rapist, you also shut the door on the rape victim. If you shut the door on Syrians because they could be ISIS you shut the door on people fleeing the tyranny of ISIS and the horrors of war. You think you are scared of ISIS? Imagine they were in charge of your government. No matter how loud your hate speech you will not drown out the voices on the other side of that door, the voices of the oppressed screaming and begging to just live a better life.
