It's recently come to my attention that people in some unnamed developed countries reuse a towel after taking a shower. In other words, they may use the same towel to dry themselves for two, or more, successive showers.

Is this common?

who needs to shower? that's just a waste of time and resources!

I drip dry. Thus saving the energy costs of washing and drying the towels.

are you fucking serious? people reuse a second time the same towel to dry off? Could you name the country where this is taking place please? Do you know what is the hotel policy on towels in said countries?

I use the same towel for multiple showers. Since I'm presumably clean coming out of the shower, I don't think it should get dirty very fast.

Most hotels that I've been to in the last four or five years now have a sign encouraging multiple use, pointing out how many megalitres of water are used in North America washing towels that weren't actually dirty.

Ditto. Pretty much every hotel I can remember being in has had signs in the bathroom telling you to leave your towel in a certain place if you want them to change it rather than letting you reuse it.

We have about 50 towels.

49 are for the wife. 1 is mine. I use mine exclusively. I use if for a few days, sometimes many days. It doesn't get dirty, since I'm clean when I come out of the shower, but when there's a convenient bit of space in a laundry load I'll throw it in.

If it doesn't get dirty why do you ever wash it? Why don't you just use it for years until it gets too thread-bare and then get a new one? So obvs, it gets dirty, you just have a high tolerance for dirt.

Next time I visit, I'm using one of your wife's 49 towels. Please tell her I prefer the lavender ones with the floral border.

This is a tradition dating back to 1987. I could not cope with proletarian white towels.

I prefer prole white towels because they give me a sanitary feeling - with white you instantly see any signs that the towel needs to be disposed of. A white towel can also serve as a self check-up. One time I knicked my elbow blade and didn't know it. When I dried myself I saw a small red stain on the towel and was able to immediately identify it as blood and put a bandage on that portion of my elbow blade.

Now the question is: how many times does saxi obsessively go home to shower and change clothes each day because he feels dirty?

Moisture does attract bacteria, but let's be honest, people like it dirty.

I use the same towel for about 5 showers and then get a clean one. I reuse them in hotels too if I am staying multiple nights.

I try to o my share to help the environment.

My towels are not white. White things you need to bleach periodically. Bleach robs the oxygen from the water. The water eventually winds up in the local river and ocean. Bleach kills fish. Use non-white towels people.

Just can't wait for Saxi's other bathroom etiquettes! What's next? Do you roll up your toilet paper in a ball or fold it for wiping? Do you use baby wipes? How do you face a bidet when cleaning your privates?

IMO, it seems to be an issue of germophobia vs. lazyness.

And nothing beats my lazyness.

I do use "Hair Conditioner" but only on weekends.
