hey my grandparents had badminton rackets and one of these sill things that's kind of a ball but for badminton, so like, with my cousins, sometimes we tried to exchange the badminton thingy as much as we could; and it wasn't totally unexpected if we managed to do more than 10

Badminton is epic. It involves a certain amount of finesse, so naturally the American mud giants and their vassals hate it, but on the civilized side of the world the swish and thwack of the cock is very popular ^0^

My favorite badminton moment was the final of the Olympic men's singles this year. Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) had lost the 2008 and 2012 Olympic finals to his long-time rival Lin Dan (China). This time he meets Lin Dan in the semis, and in a hard fought match he battles back from being one set down to defeat Lin. It's Lee's last Olympics, but now he's through to the final with his fiercest rival vanquished in his wake. Lee's never won a gold in badminton before, Malaysia has never won a gold in badminton before - at what is surely Lee's last ever Olympics, now is his chance to make a mark for both himself and his country and go out on a high!!!
Lee goes on to to a landmark, emotional final in which he gets roundly thrashed another Chinese (Chen Long). Gold for China again. No soup for you!

Well in the American football thread we have saxi defending American football - a game in which blobs who weigh 600 lbs run into each other then fall over - as the height of tactics and athletic prowess. Clearly the American athlete is better suited to the brutery of a Lord of the Rings battlefield than the nimble elegance of sports such as badminton.

Here in Spain they were all proud because the gold medal for women was won by a spaniard. So since they won the gold they pretend that it's a very important sport followed worldwide.
I didn't make the count but I think that badminton is winning over american football by a landslide at this stage. All asia plays badminton, and any asian can badminton-pingpong the shit out of an american football player.

Badminton is a true men's sport unlike tennis which has turned into a moaning competition.

Badminton seems like a game English ladies would take to in the garden before tea, followed by a reading from an Austen novel and a fancy dinner with powdered wigs. It hardly seems a sport.
