I can't believe how often there is some bogus phone call or text.
We get messages on our answering machine from fake tax collectors, pretend credit card and bank employees. Sometimes it's someone with a really think accent once it was a computer generated voice.
I got a text on my mobile from 1-403-667-7806
CIBC has noticed unusual activities on your online banking, for more information : http//concernCIBC.com
CIBC stands for Canadian imperial bank of commerce.
I don't have an account there, never gave that number to any banks and have never banked online. That
is unusual!Maybe someone in Europe, Australia or somewhere would enjoy trolling them.

I get about 10-15 calls a week from numbers in different states. I call them back and they're not in service or disconnected. I once called back and a guy said his phone has been sitting on the table for the last hour untouched. It's annoying as f*ck.

I get maybe 1 or 2 a day saying I have a debt from years ago that I payed off. I love it when they call from Minnesota. I love it too when I waste their time and give them false info

There is a very common scam, indians calling. "I'm calling about your accident".
Which accident is that?
"Your accident you have been having in the past 3-12months"
Ok, which vehicle was I driving?
"I'm calling about your accident"
Yeah I got that mate, which accident?
"Your accident I am calling about"
Which one fella, I've had a couple of accidents. Was it the one with my Porsche?
"Yes your accident, if you will be giving me some informations so I can make quickly funds compensation for benefit you"
..........................
Can go around in circles for ages. I just say that they've called me on my work mobile, and that I'll give them my personal number. Then give them the number of a customer that has pissed me off or my smart arse cousins number.

One bank here a couple of decades ago used to call often saying, "You are pre approved for our credit card, we just need a little information."
I would sometimes spend as much time messing with them as I could while they typed my name, address, etc. then I would refuse to give them my social insurance number. "But we need that or we can't issue a card." Well don't then.

A little off topic buy I actually fell for an email phish yesterday. Pissed me off.
Got an email from Netflix telling me that billing had failed and to update my payment info.
Well, fact is that I recently changed cards and since my wife is addicted to netflix thought that I should hurry up and update the card before they shut it down and my wife jumped on me...lol
So, I looked up my pw, entered it and updated my info. A new screen opened up asking me for my birthdate...wtf? I immediately pulled my head out of my nether regions, called my bank and stopped my card, getting a new one today.
Went back to the original link and found that any username, pw, worked. Just there to give you confidence that you are really at netflix.
I try not to respond to emails, but to go to the actual site and login, but in this instance I was busy at work and thoughts of my irate wife made me irrational....lol

Got a call from my bank right after I posted this. Scammers wasted no time, tried to debit 870 euros less than three hours after they got the info. Fortunately, even though I was stipid enough to give the wrong people my info, I was smart enough to cancel before any charges came through.

It sucks when they stumble on the right combination to snag an unlucky person.
Good to see you got it fixed.
