In a statement on Twitter, Kevin Spacey apologized for sexual abusing a child before immediately linking to the fact he is gay.

Does being gay cause sexually predatory behavior towards children?

Were the Boy Scouts right all along?

It's a really weird thing that in the era of identity politics, the very idea of identity doesn't really make sense. If you identify as a "gay man" what does that even mean? Pretty much nothing, or it's only a label that means something in relation to the other.

What is your identity? Can you describe it without using common nouns?

US filmmaker Tony Montana claimed he suffered from PTSD for six months after Spacey allegedly grabbed his crotch in a Los Angeles bar in 2003.

So...I'm not going to defend the guy...But why does this all seem off?

32 years ago? A 14 year old invited to a party? Buzzfeed is reporting in on it? I just find the sources dubious.

Anywho, if he's a pederast, shame on him. Innocent until proven guilty imo.

2003 was over 30 years ago? Did kevin spacey send this from the future? Or it must be that time flies... anyways, spacey being gay is old news, a kid shouldn t ve been in those kind of parties for sure... but can you blame the kid? If he was into cinema and managed to get close to that environment... spacey has no excuse.

Even of something did happen long ago, it would be too minor to mention until the pot is sweetened by the twin lures of
1) free publicity,
and
2) possible litigation money

It's disingenuous to suggest people shouldn't consider such motives.

so, let's get this straight... if you are in a bar, some gay guy grops you, then follows you to the wc telling you he owns you;
1) would you not be kind of traumatised, with that disgusting memory coming back over time and making you sick?
2) would you tell everybody just after it happens? would you even realize just after it happens that a gross feeling would follow you for quite some time?
3)the fact that it's a famous person that you see in series, movies and night shows for the rest of your life doesn't make it more difficult for you? mostly if you work in that field and you're not doing ery good?

i mean, i can totally understand that guy... and the fact that he isn't too talented or just that he doesn't know how to move in hollywood doesn t make him unfit to claims those alegations.

There's a good reason most crimes have a statute of limitations. Most witnesses aren't much good after a week much less 7 years. Now, public hysteria has forced on us the concept that sex crimes should have no limitation. Why? Do people's memories magically become more accurate because their gonads are involved?

I know I have a hard time remembering the girls I had 32 years ago. There were two. One was basically just a one-night stand, the other was a relationship that went on for a few months. I can remember their faces and some of the things we did, but I can't remember their names. I struggle and struggle, but those names are buried somewhere in a brain cell I've lost contact with. And while I have some idea of the events that took place in our relationship, I honestly don't think I could put them all in correct chronological order.

Trying to recall a random inconsequential sexual encounter is a bit different to trying to recall something traumatic.

Not that any of the stories about Kevin Spacey sound in any way like things that might ‘traumatize’ someone. But some things stick more clearly in your mind than others.
