I think the real problem is that our Western wealth only exists because we exploit the other. Once the other starts taking some of the wealth, there isn't any left for the exploiters.

Of course the Russians would never start a regional war but that's not technically relevant to how the US has historically prevented Honduras Nicaragua and Guatemala from having stable governments that aren't in lockstep with the US.
