Anyone going thru this wanna comment?
We've had a lot more winter than usual. I had a bit of overtime last week...

Finally had a day off yesterday. Snow-blowed the driveway. An hour later it had all drifted in again...

It's blowing and drifting and cold as hell. Still, we've got it easy here compared to what's happening in Minnesota. I think our overnight low tonight is expected to be -23, -37 with the windchill. (Just for you KB, the Fahrenheit equivalents: -9 absolute, -35 with the wind chill)

Actually, you're quite right. This is a direct result of global warming. As the polar air masses warm up, they get less stable. Big chunks of the polar air mass have always broken off, but they're doing so more regularly now.
This map shows it nicely. Much warmer than usual over East Asia, the Pacific Northwest of North America, and the Arctic Ocean, while huge chunks of polar air have broken off, one over east-central North America and another over mid-Siberia.
