I need computer building advice.

I'll post the specs later but here's the deal:

Bought an i9 Core processor, a new motherboard to support it, and a 750w power supply.

My dilemma:

The mother doesn't fit into my old case, or at least its not flush with the back of the case, the 2nd problem, I'm not seeing a port for my monitor. I see an HDMI port but not sure if i need a new monitor specifically made for HDMI compatibility or if i can just rig one myself up, I'm also not sure if i should just get a case specifically made for this specific motherboard.

First time building my own rig but help would be appreciated.

I'd help but last time I build my own computer, HDMI hadn't been invented yet. I was running DOS 6.22 off 3.5 inch floppies.

Hope someone comes along who's more useful.

That being said, you shouldn't build your computer, instead, buy a brand new one from a renowned brand, like Lenovo or Acer. I asked a a small computer shop to build a computer for me once, only because it was a small local business, I'm not making that mistake again.

Re the monitor, you can buy an HDMI to whatever adapter plug and it will be fine. Tons on Amazon. Hell, I probly have one I'd give ya if you want.

New computers are SO cheap now dude. Unless you're customizing for high end gaming, no longer makes sense to build...

What type of graphics card do you have? If you bought one that only has a single port, return it and get one with the port you need. If the local store doesn't carry one, have them order one.

Its a 980 GTX. Had it for awhile.

Haven't tried fitting it to the board yet, mostly because I saw I had no port for my monitor.

I honestly don't understand why the motherboard even has a graphics port unless it has a built in graphics card. Usually the graphics cards have the ports...

So after Googling I found out that the port is just a ruse for rubes.

I mean… if you get the right CPU then the onboard graphics will work… and it’s fine for 90% of computer applications.

Obviously High End Gaming is in the 10% where integrated graphics isn’t ideal… along with CAD, Professional Photo/Video Editting, etc.

Why a motherboard that’s marketed as a “Gaming” board would bother with the cheap graphics?

Has more to do with how these boards are designed and built… they aren’t really designed from the ground up with a specific purpose in mind. They take a baseline design and modify it slightly so they can call one a “gaming” board and another a”value” board or whatever.

You're going to need a new monitor. Clearly if you build the computer correctly your old monitor will just prevent you from enjoying life.

If you don't buy an Acer Predator XB321HK you should cut off your balls and blend them into a smoothie.
