First Child of a Sitting President INDICTED!

The House of Representatives today opened a formal impeachment inquiry into presidential claimant Old Joe. The inquiry will focus on his extreme corruption, abuse of office, and his sale of access to foreign powers while Vice-President. There are presently no plans to actually impeach Old Joe, but the inquiry will give the House new investigative authority to dig up dirt on Old Joe and to gradually drip that dirt out to the public over a period of many many months.

Old Joe is the least popular presidential claimant in American history and it's expected his popularity will continue to crater as various allegations and innuendo get released over the next year from the numerous House committees that will be created to probe into every aspect of his life and the life of his family including even the fat granddaughter.

Mr McCarthy is planning to convene lawmakers behind closed doors multiple times this week, including for a meeting to discuss a potential impeachment.

"I am directing our House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden," McCarthy told reporters.

"We will go where the evidence takes us."

Speaker McCarthy said several committees will begin gathering evidence of possible financial misconduct.

Senate Republicans say the House GOP doesn’t appear to have enough evidence to pursue impeachment proceedings against President Biden and are skeptical about the prospect of setting up an inquiry with multiple committees already investigating the president and his son, Hunter Biden.

Republican senators are highly skeptical that Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) could even muster enough votes in the House to pass an article of impeachment and warn it would be quickly dismissed if it ever got to the Senate, possibly without going to a full trial.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4198517-senate-gop-says-house-lacks-evidence-for-impeachment/

According to Fox News, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy must have amnesia due to the drastic differences between his actions and past statements.

“Kevin McCarthy, I guess, has amnesia. He has short term and long term,” it was said on The Five. Tarlov cited the congressman’s Sept. 1, yes, less than two weeks ago, interview with Breitbart News in which he said that if an impeachment inquiry were to happen, “it would occur through a vote on the floor of the People’s House and not through a declaration by one person.”

Tarlov also pointed to McCarthy’s stance in September 2019, after then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi opened an impeachment inquiry into Trump via the same route he took Tuesday. In a resolution, McCarthy criticized Pelosi for “refusing to seek approval of the whole House in this critical decision.” However, on Oct. 31, Pelosi called a full House vote, which started the hearings.

More on the Fox News statements:

Why would McCarthy so drastically reverse himself?

Trump called the Speaker out publicly and said he needed to start a Biden impeachment. Trump is tired of being the one constantly in the news defending himself in multiple trials.

As legal observers point out, all of the Republican House investigations have produced zero evidence tying President Biden to crimes, just smears and innuendo and partisan claims "that looks fishy."

Where Is the Evidence, Speaker McCarthy?

Evidence Be Damned, Kevin McCarthy Is Plowing Ahead With Biden Impeachment

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2023/09/kevin-mccarthy-plowing-ahead-with-biden-impeachment

Sen. John Fetterman had the best reaction to the evidence-free impeachment announcement where the House Speaker reversed what he has been saying for years, that it needs a full House vote to be started.

You can only laugh and pity the gullible fools taken it by this political theater by Republicans who can't even agree with themselves enough to govern.

Is Saxi going to post a poster of the much larger sums of foreign money Trump's sons, daughter, and son-in-law have taken?

Show us the money!

BTW, can someone be impeached for allegations about alleged actions before they were president?

Can Democrats impeach Trump again for stealing from charities, fake universities, and violating the Fair Housing Act?

Sen. John Fetterman had the best reaction

Is that the same Fetterman who was locked-up in an insane asylum until just a few months ago?

Dems are going to allow the inquiry to move forward, and will most likely being supplying dirt from anonymous sources.
Biden's popularity with young voters is dismal, and they want him out and replaced with one of their stars they've been grooming.

Look for either Newsom or Whitmer, or both on a ticket around the start of the year.

Yeah, this is my concern. The Rats want to pile enough shit on Biden that he'll drop out before it's too late.

On the other hand, by initiating an impeachment inquiry, the Republicans may be able to capture and arrest any smoking gun information to protect Biden from Rat knives. Then start dumping it next summer when it will cause maximum chaos.

Yes, I respect our people who seek help.

Is that the same Fetterman who was locked-up in an insane asylum until just a few months ago?

I don't like the more insane Republicans who just spread their disease and are destroying the country.

Or the lying cowardly weasels like McCarthy who just said he couldn't do this less than two weeks ago and attacked Pelsosi for it longer ago. .

This was entirely predictable regardless of which Democrat ended up as the next president. Extreme actions by one political party become normalized by the other party once power shifts. Consider the politicization of the Supreme Court. This isn't something out of the blue caused by Republican actions. It's been building for 35 years.

For the majority of the history of this country, Supreme Court nominees were approved by overwhelming majorities, regardless of their political leanings. Reagan's nominee in 1987, Robert Bork, was the first nominee ever to be rejected based on his personal views as opposed to lack of qualifications. For the next ~15 years, not a whole lot changed. Democratic nominations were easily confirmed. Republic nominations of moderates were confirmed, but nominations of conservative minorities received far more push back, culminating in the Senate Democrats filibustering Bush's nomination of Miguel Estrada to the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit (a court from which quite a few Supreme Court nominees have been drawn). There were explicit statements from certain Democrats that they could not tolerate a Conservative Hispanic being positioned for a potential future Supreme Court nomination. This was the first time the filibuster was actually used to prevent a judicial nominee from being confirmed. Republicans at the time screamed left and right that the filibuster was not to be used for judicial nominations, and they considered invoking the "nuclear option" to overturn such filibusters, but ultimately backed off.

A few years later, once Obama was president, the Republicans completely flipped position and decided that the filibuster a perfectly good tool to stop nominations (both judicial and executive) to which they objected. It finally came to a head in November 2013, when Senator Reid invoked the nuclear option to end filibusters on all nominations other than for the Supreme Court. Once Republicans regained control of the Senate in 2014 they found other ways to block Obama's nominations (including simply refusing to vote on Merrick Garland's nomination). Trump was elected in 2016, and Democrats again undertook the role of blocking nominations, including to the Supreme Court. In April 2017, Senator McConnell invoked the nuclear option again to remove the use of the filibuster for all nominations, including votes on Supreme Court nominees. This allowed Trump to push through the nominations he wanted, so long as Republicans controlled the Senate. And back and forth it goes.

This is a clown show by the Republican Freedom Caucus Clowns.

House Republicans are supposedly in charge but they don't know how to govern so it is an absolute clown show, They only know how to do political theater. They do stunts instead of governing. That is why so many Republican politicians constantly go to the Mexican border. They can't do anything there but it is political theater with a scenic backdrop.

Their investigation committees are all theatrics to avoid governing.

But now it has come down to producing budgets, actually governing.

It should be easy, all the Senate budgets got done following the Biden-McCarthy agreements that ended the threatened shutdown earlier this year.
But the crazier-than-ever Freedom Caucus members are in charge of many committees as part of the deal to make McCarthy Speaker. They refuse to honor the deal and are drastically cutting a lot more and adding conservative wish list items that have no chance of passing.

Even fellow Republicans are despairing of their extremist colleagues. The Freedom Caucus announced they would be glad to shut down the government if they don't get their way and they have several ways to do it. Mainly not passing budgets or continuing resolutions.

They offered McCarthy a way to avoid that shutdown: impeach President Joe Biden, although there is no evidence the president has committed any “high crimes and misdemeanors” required for an impeachment.

McCarthy folded under pressure from them and Trump.

But... Representative Ken Buck (R-CO), himself a member of the Freedom Caucus, said: “The time for impeachment is the time when there’s evidence linking President Biden—if there’s evidence linking President Biden to a high crime or misdemeanor. That doesn’t exist right now.”

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) summed up recent events “So let me get this straight: Republicans are threatening to remove their own Speaker, impeach the President, and shut down the government on September 30th—disrupting everyday people’s paychecks and general public operations. For what? I don’t think even they know.”

Senator Fetterman just laughed at them in response to the announcement of an impeachment hearing. He is much less crazy than the clowns on the extremist Right.

It doesn't look like they have the votes to get a majority for impeachment in the House, let alone the two-thirds they need in the Senate to remove Biden. This is just more political theater instead of governing.

It is just more theatrics. We will see if we get a budget but right now the Republican clowns are stuck in the clown car.

Some of the above with less clownishness is from my smart political historian: Heather Cox Richardson.

By the way, do you know that despite the claims from the extremist Republican clowns that there is too much government spending and we are becoming a communist state - the federal discretionary spending share of the economy has stayed the same since 1954? What has gone down is the share of taxes paid by the corporations and the wealthy.

What would really help contextualize this situation is an 800 word monologue copy/pasted from a Facebook post. Can someone get on that?

The first charge dropped!

Joe Biden has just gone down in history as being the first sitting president to have one of his children indicted by a grand jury!

While Hunter Biden's first serious felony charge with which the grand jury indicted him today carries a potential sentence of five years the typical sentencing range is 9-12 months.

I definitely think Hunter Biden should not have access to guns, although the NRA and those who think the 2nd Amendment is the Supreme Amendment disagree with me. Are they going to be defending his gun rights?

Perhaps Hunter should be impeached and removed from office?

Most of the U.S. education system is currently a dumpster fire, so that may be where they hold class.
