Border Security Bill

The Republicans are now dragging their feet on a Bill that was OK with them back in May. Why?

They had 2 years back in 2017 and 2018, where they had full control of Congress and the Executive branches of government and did not build a border wall as promised by Trump. President Obama had more success controlling border crossings than any President, before and after.

Looks like the Republicans need a boogeyman issue to stay in power.

That only leaves 3 options i think.

A: the crisis on the border is not greater than it usually is and its just blown up by the right winger outrage machine cause a dem is in power.

B: reps arent interested in solving that problem.

C: reps are utterly incompetent.

What do you think it is?
Personally i think its all of that.

Considering the MAGA politicians don't have a real platform for economic growth (outside of giving the uber rich more tax cuts) or how to to make Healthcare affordable and available for all...all 3 options is correct.

Actually, Trump did get Hundreds of miles of wall and barrier built. Of course, with more sense and cooperation from his viciously sworn oppnents he could have accomplished even more.

It is the height of hypocrisy for Democrats to complain about Republicans not doing enough to protect the border. Republicans are not perfect on the issue, and it is a costly one, but at least they have attempted to protect America from incessent, piecemeal invasion, and by thousands of times more than the Dems ever have or will.

Millions of miles. Or only 49. lol

The U.S. built new barriers along 455 miles (732 km),[6][7][8] 49 miles (79 km) of which previously had no barrier.

Btw Trump could have gotten his wall in exchange for some love for the dreamers. He refused.

First, let's be clear, Dreamer = Illegal Alien, in wa-wa-woke-speak.

Why don't those aliens stay in their own country (or Third-World shitholeof their own making?) where they are native and try to improve that place, using their many skills and talents, if any.
They could even try to have a revolution like the Americans did, f they don't like their own government.
I know why? They've come from thief-cultures that don't properly respect property rights.
Much easier to just trespass... or as you would say 'dream'.

If you about it, trespass is literally the equivalent of rape. Both are acts of entering without proper permission.

Speaking of definitions, I would be careful about misusing a powerful word like 'dream'.
Someday you may need to call upon the true definition of the word, and then you may discover the cost of your corrupting it.

I'm not particularly a fan of any President... In his time, Reagan performed the functions he was elected for. That is enough.

Like giving amnesty to millions of 'illegals' when he signed the 1986 immigration act.

And that was blanket amnesty to all of them, not just the dreamers who were minors when their parents crossed the border and brought them to the USA.

Can I call them dreamers, or do you prefer I call these children 'Rapists' as you did above?

Yes, the history of the U.S. is filled with such dark moments of betrayal. You'll get no argument from me there.
Perhaps some day America will truly takes it's place as the virtuous and premier Light of the World, but that day has not yet come.

The problem is that there are too many people on Earth, most of them wicked and desperate. They too often force a turn of the Ruler's hand, regardless of whether that hand hold merely a sword, or worse, that more dreaded and feared implement, the pen.

LOL! They can always count on the gullibles.

It is the height of hypocrisy for Democrats to complain about Republicans not doing enough to protect the border. Republicans are not perfect on the issue, and it is a costly one, but at least they have attempted to protect America from incessant, piecemeal invasion, and by thousands of times more than the Dems ever have or will.

Republicans have learned to be posers and masters of political theater instead of governing.

This month (April 2023) marks ten years since the introduction of the “Gang of Eight’s” comprehensive immigration reform bill. In June of 2013, the U.S. Senate passed that historic bill by a strong bipartisan majority, with 14 Republicans joining all Democrats. The bill, S. 744, would have put millions of undocumented immigrants onto a pathway to citizenship, allowing them to work legally, reunite with family members, more fully continue to our economy, and live without the fear of deportation. It would’ve been the biggest immigration overhaul in decades.

But while bipartisan votes existed in the Republican-led U.S. House to pass the legislation, then-Speaker John Boehner refused to allow the bill to come to the floor, instead giving numerous anti-DREAMer votes to Steve King, the racist former congressman from Iowa.

Boehner's inaction and acquiescence to the anti-immigrant wing would mark the beginning of the GOP’s rapid descent into the kind of gloom, white supremacist radicalism, and nativism we see today.

Notably, Boehner’s refusal to bring up S. 744 marked the beginning of ten years (and counting) of most Congressional Republicans refusing to join in on workable proposals to address our nation’s outdated immigration system. While several Republicans did support two major pieces of legislation that passed the House after Democrats took control of the chamber in 2018, in the Senate, ten Republicans refused to step forward to overcome the Jim Crow filibuster.

Both the Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act would have been hugely significant. While not as expansive as the comprehensive immigration reform bill passed by the Senate in 2013, they would have permanently protected Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals holders, immigrants holding Temporary Protected Status, and the undocumented farmworkers who feed us.

Senate Republicans refused to act on this legislation twice when the House again passed these bills in 2021. Once again, ten Senate Republicans refused to step up.

Gullible is anyone who thinks that mis-labelled amnesty bill has anything to do with Immigation Reform...
'More Immigration, No Reform' is a more apt description.

Btw, you do know that terms like 'undocumented' and 'dreamer' are politically motivated euphemisms to disguise criminal behavior.
You do know that, right?

So maybe, the next time you start whining about 'fake news', just remember all the 'fake definitions' that you glibly spout.

Such hypocrisy...

As is implying people are 'rapists' because they cross a border.

Nice (but tiresomely unoriginal) try, but no. They are crossing illegally.
Nobody said they weren't human. In fact those laws are mady by, for, and about humans.

Such false rhetoric is designed only to enflame an manipulate.. Do you also notice that you are fine with that.
Remember that when you get in a huff about misrepresntatrion and 'hate' speech.

Seriously, are you fine with anyone and everyone with any objection to any law saying it's wrong to use the term 'illegal', or are you just going to cherry-pick that privilege for laws you disagree with?

Its 'illegal alien' actually, as opposed to 'legal alien'. Adjectives that modify the noun.
Most can see the difference, but I'm not expecting such a basic admission from you.

Sry for the wokeness.

"When you label someone an “illegal alien” or “illegal immigrant” or just plain “illegal,” you are effectively saying the individual, as opposed to the actions the person has taken, is unlawful. The terms imply the very existence of an unauthorized migrant in America is criminal.

In this country, there is still a presumption of innocence that requires a jury to convict someone of a crime. If you don’t pay your taxes, are you an illegal? What if you get a speeding ticket? A murder conviction? No. You’re still not an illegal. Even alleged terrorists and child molesters aren’t labeled illegals.

By becoming judge, jury and executioner, you dehumanize the individual and generate animosity toward them. New York Times editorial writer Lawrence Downes says “illegal” is often “a code word for racial and ethnic hatred.”

No , you're not sorry... but nevermind the fibs.
These stupid and disingenuous semantic games are done. If they don't want to be illegal aliens they can keep their backs dry and stay home.
What, there feelings are hurt due to someone calling them on their own actions?? Awwww...
Well maybe their selfish feelings should be hurt and if they can't take personal responsibility for that, we really don't want or need them.

You make these pointless arguments because you don't value border controls at all. You just want some chaos-principle free-market (yet still somehow anti-Capitalist) globalism that spirals down to the lowest point... So people who aren't making in in one country can just hop over and try again elsewhere with no vetting process or quality control. Terrorism (including economic terrorism) does not exist for you ... until something happens you can't deny it and then you stand there shocked and agog and make more lame excuses.

What I just wrote is basically the truth.
The insincere, idiot word games you all try to play are basically just obfuscation and lies.
You love to get mad at Trump for his word games, but take a long look at your own long history of basically manipulating the truth to get a convenient reaction.

And it's undocumented immigrant, or undocumented worker. An adjective that modify the noun.

Most can see the difference, but only a few can revel in the schadenfreude of it all.
