Is it inappropriate for a boss to call deceased employees?

A lot of people think it's appropriate for your boss to contact you at home or after hours if there's something urgent at work.
Sometimes, if you leave a job, your former boss might call you a bit after to ask you a question about some lingering item.
Now, what if you recently died -- you were on the wrong end of a back-alley murder/rape or whatever -- and there are some questions about an outstanding assignment? If it were possible for your boss to connect with you, would it be appropriate for him to ask you to finish the assignment up?
If your answer is no, would your answer change if it were a really important assignment that might impact quarterly earnings? Or it was a goal the whole team had been working toward?
