Looks like we are reaching the top of the interest in this tournament. I think I will set December 11th as the starting date for this tournament and start making preparations. Inscriptions are open at least until December 5th

As we will probably have 64 or more players, this means I will gift premium to the winner of the 1st round and the winner of the full tournament

Oliver - can you give us some estimate of the timescale for completing this tournament, please?

It just looks to me on the face of it that it will take more than one year.

Cheers,

Steve

I also think it will take more than a year. That's why I decided to give a prize to the winner of the first round. If it needs to be shortened it can be done by eliminating some of the later phases. For example, it could end at the 16 players round and the player with most points after that round would be the winner.

Not true! If keep losing in this tournament (due to not being good at AA) but keep winning in other games. I as a high ranked player will lose many more points than if it wasn't swiss style!

The key here are the words "in the first games" ;-)

Yes, mate - it needs to be shortened, the rulebook now says:

"Each tournament should be designed to end within 1 year. (Added June 16, 2011)".

Can you work on it? Needs to be a realistic probability (no guarantees of course) that it will finish in less than 12 months for us to approve it.

Let's say that each game takes an average of 2 weeks (2 player games usually take a week or less, 4 players take 2 weeks and 8 players around 3 weeks). Then it can be 10 games for the 1st round and 5 games for each subsequent round, for a total of 20 games.

1st round, 64+players, 10 games.
2nd round, 32 players, 5 games.
3rd round, 16 players, 5 games.

That's 40 weeks plus 12 weeks of margin.

Many, because "losing" in CC terms is not being the first player. But in the tournament, being the second in 4p and 8p games would give you 5 and 10 points, which probably would be enough not only to keep you in the tournament, but to be in the higher part of the table

With other words if I "almost win" a lot in this tourney, it could drag me down to private again  . That was all I wanted to know thanks ;) .
