HA's SPEEDTourneys-Classic 1v1(Canceled)

Canceled

Sorry but this will not happen--I am at 13 players and I need to get it full before asking for privis--sorry.

Maybe I will try again-but I don't want to solicit this more than the two pm's I sent out.

I will continue to do the 24 hour small tourneys but as for Speed I am giving up

HA's SPEEDTourneys-Classic 1v1:

THIS WILL BE A SPEED TOURNEY-ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE MONDAY 8PM-11PM 2/22/10 Eastern time zone.

MUST BE PREMIUM AS FREEMIUMS CANNOT JOIN SPEED GAMES

I really want this to be successful so only sign up if you really will be available to play.

Here are some other times associated with this tourney:

3pm in Hawaii
5pm in LA
7pm in Houston
8pm in New York Eastern time zone
10pm in Santiago
11pm in Montevideo
1am in London
2am Berlin
9am in Hong Kong
11am in Brisbane

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/c ... tml?sort=2 can be used to sort out your time associated with New York which is on the Eastern time zone

For HA's SPEEDTourneys-Classic 1v1:
16 entrants
1v1, 2 player games
Seq
chained reinforcements
escalating spoils
sunny

It will be a normal 16 team bracket non seeded. I will use random.org to create the seeds.

First round will be 1 game
Second round will be 1 game
Third round will be 1 game
The finals will be 2 of 3

To sign up, just post to this thread

For this tournament premium players only

I will take reserves, but only for round 1 and I would like to have at least 8 reserves. One time speed tourneys have not went well on CC, but I am going to attempt to change that. It makes for a real fun time to play in a tourney for a few hours and have it completed on the same night. I will try this simple format first, but with enough interest it can easily grow.

When I send a pm you have 5-10 minutes to join your game or I will put a reserve into the game.

I ask that you play your games as fast as possible without rushing yourself. I will join my game last so that I make sure everyone is in their games, but I will communicate that with my opponent.

It will be a normal 16 team bracket non seeded. I will use random.org to set the match ups.
I will use reverse set up to make the match ups-1-8 will play 16-9. Basically each round will have the lowest number playing the highest number. I will just make this list, cut it in half and reverse the higher numbers. PM me if you have questions-these will be posted each round.

I hope this covers everything.

Feel free to ask questions.

Although plenty of views, very few sign ups--maybe a bad day or many players have not logged in yet. I was thinking that players would make their morning moves and join for the evening tourney. For now I have decided to have people plan to join a few days in advance. I have made this change--I will take 16 sign ups and 8 reserves to be safe.

THIS WILL BE A SPEED TOURNEY-ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE MONDAY 8PM-11PM 2/22/10 Eastern time zone.

I was 1/2 tempted to sign in for a midnight start in UK, but making it 1am is even worse.
Hope it goes well for you though.
Maybe if you try between 6pm-10pm GMT/UK time you could corner the UK audience. Just throwing you some ideas!

sounds interesting, and I would also play but I cant in that time. beginning of tourney is in 2 a.m. here, so it is too late for me. in CC the most players are from USA and Europe, so I think better would be to choose normal time for EU players also.

Most of Europe are within a couple of hours of each other, so josco has a valid point.
Far be it from me to tell you how to run things, but im sure if you was to start around 4-6 hours earlier then you would fill up a lot quicker.

The problem with six hours earlier is it puts it in the middle of the day for me. I am finding out through threads and pm's that this is a difficult thing to make happen due to all the time zones. Why can't the world just be flat.

In despite being in the UK. If therer are more europeans wanting in and this is well attended I will consider doing an earlier one for the europeans.
